Work in progress underpainting for Nothosaurus mirabilis. Inspired to start on this Triassic weirdo by World Ocean Day.
Our planet is more than 70% covered by water, it is the place where life began and continues to be a crucial resource for life to continue, even 210 million years after critters like this stopped swimming around in it.
Today is World Ocean Day!
Our planet is an ocean planet: Earth Is Blue. The National Marine Sanctuary System protects some of the most iconic underwater places throughout the United States, but we can't do it without you. No matter where you are, the ocean and Great Lakes are in your hands. From the air we breathe, climate regulation, providing food, and economic benefits, the ocean supports life on our planet. Tell us what your favorite thing about the ocean is! (Photo: Matt McIntosh/NOAA. Image description: Surfer riding a wave in an orange sunset.)
All of us know that water bodies account for 71% of the natural equilibrium and constitute an important part of the natural cycle.
All of us know that water bodies account for 71% of the natural equilibrium and constitute an important part of the natural cycle. Thus, a significant amount of living species live inside the water, predominantly inside oceans. Unfortunately, human intervention has put these aquatic lives in jeopardy. It is predicted that plastics will outnumber marine life by 2050. This mass pollution from plastic, oil, fabrics, and industrial waste, is not only affecting marine life but also pushing marine species to extinction. Not only this, there are many unsettling facts about ocean pollution that are hard to digest.
Lady Gaga would be jealous of me today! This incredible costume by @iaminoe definitely showcases the 'more is more' ethos! 🤣 On a shoot with @jlutskyphoto which is meant to be underwater... but we are still struggling to get this creation weighted down enough to stay underwater! . . Rest of the bunch of ocean pics from last time that I forgot to post. And one of those rare selfies. I'm proud of this one, cuz I couldn't see anything, it wasn't with the selfie feature but with an actual camera that I was using backwards and it looks ok. I think it's also the first reveal of me as a mermaid not drawn. Yeah, you can't see the tail because of the framing sadly 😛
