I don't even think Jacques was that bad but its kinda crazy Odalia seems to like making her daughter squirm.
YOU GUYS..... I wasn't joking at all...
Anyways, empress Odalia AU (may or may not change the name later). Basically Odalia and Alador divorce shortly after Amity's birth. While Alador is left to take care of three kids, Odalia ends up marrying Belos + becomes the new head oracle. Stonks!!!
+ insane ramblings about how their relationship could work out
bro. i'm thinking abt belodalia and they're. actually. so good for each other??? if they get together, that is.
for belos it would be so rough at first bc he willingly went against all his beliefs, same path as his brother. and now he knows for sure that the witch did not cast a spell on him (at least this one wouldn't dare). so that means that he??? fell in love with her??? on his own accord???? does this mean he should die, too?????? i wonder if he comes to terms w that and starts to be more chill about witches after that. pussy could literally save this man.
as for odalia, from what i remember she is very career-driven and is obsessed w success and money. i think being the emperor's wife very much takes care of that. there are not many things that can top that, so i'd like to think she also becomes more pleasant to be around.
also belos struggles with the fact that there's a witch who dares talk back to him (ik it's probably wouldn't be the case in the show but i'd like to make her more of a girlboss). and odalia is very much not used to a not having submissive husband for once (alador made her way too confident). in the end i think they'd be pretty equal.
👆 takes two horrible characters and makes them have a (somewhat) healthier relationship that helps them become better people
Odalia in this episode was like
“She’s trying to help people!”
“Hush, brat.”
“Don’t you talk to my girlfriend like that!”
“Girlfriend? Oh, no, no, that won’t do. We’ll find you a new girlfriend, one who isn’t on wanted posters everywhere.”
There is something deeply hilarious about this and also kind of heartwarming in a meta way I just. The Boiling Isles, land of no homophobia, where evil capitalist abusive momma can huff about her daughter’s gf being wanted by the state instead of about her being a girl.
I know I don't post fandom-related stuff often, but I just wanna say I really appreciate how The Owl House handled Odalia just not getting back to Amity's life. She's shown for a split second just to show she's alive, but she isn't on Amity's life, she isn't getting a half assed redemption that somehow makes up for an entire life of abusing everyone, she just gets cut out and Amity instead gets to be close to her father, and she takes after him.
A lot of movies and shows lately have gone for the sort of "happy ending" where an abusive parent does a rushed apology (or not even that) and next scene it's all magically happy and settled. A lot of times not enough responsibility is given to the abusive parent, and years of trauma are just swept under the rug.
But TOH just allows Amity to cut her abusive mother away from her life, and be much happier because of that, and I really appreciate it. I feel like a lot of neurodivergent and queer people have parents they've cut away from their life, and having this show (which does certainly represent both groups) represent a main character with that sort of situation is really nice.
