So I have this headcanon that the main three Glukkons in Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus (General Dripik, V.P. Aslik and Director Phleg) and the main three Glukkons in Soulstorm (Baron Morguer, Brewmaster and Ludwig Von Aslik) actually co-exist in the same continuity of the new quintology and the Exoddus glukks simply have lower positions in the hierarchy, hence why they aren’t mentioned in the plot of Soulstorm. (Aside from Aslik, but I like to think Ludwig Von Aslik and V.P. Aslik are actually two different Glukkons who just so happen to have the same last name)
Anyway, last night I was imagining how the Exoddus Glukkons and Soulstorm Glukkons might interact with their respective counterparts, and I thought about what Exoddus!Brewmaster would think of Soulstorm!brew master and vice versa.
...and once I thought about this, I came to a sudden realisation.
Form the few hints we can gather from cutscenes of Exoddus!Brewmaster, you get the sense that he is extremely passionate about Soulstorm brew. Not just because it makes him moolah, but because he genuinely cares about taste, and would go to whatever lengths to prefect its flavour, including torturing and killing his Mudokon workers to harvest the right amount of bones and tears from. Unlike other Glukkons who only care about if a product sells enough and gets Mudokon workers hooked on it, Exoddus!Brewmaster seems to earnestly care about the quality of his product.
Further evidence to support this idea of his dedication to brew comes from the fact that, unlike several of the Glukkons we see in Oddysee and Exoddus who wear the finest suits their moolah can buy them, Exoddus!Brewmaster wears a Brew-stained chefs jacket. This indicating that A) unlike other gukkkons, Exoddus!brewmaster doesn’t care for appearances or how he may look to others, B) that Exoddus!brewmaster is (forgive the expression) more hands on when in comes to the production of his work compared to other Glukkons, as indicated by the brew stains, and C) that dispite running the Soulstorm brewery we see in Exoddus, Exoddus!Brewmaster isnt as high ranking as he may seem, possibly not being the mastermind behind the brew itself and maybe simply being the one who runs the facility and also a huge Soulstorm fanatic.
Now, with all this in mind, what the hell does this have to do with Soulstorm!Brewmaster?
Well, as we’ve established, Exoddus!brewmaster is absolutely dedicated to Soulstorm brew, dedicating his job to toiling away in the brew vats, getting the flavour right on each batch to the point where he has become an eccentric outcast in Glukkon society and even his last words as he is about to die in the good ending of Abe’s Exoddus being him lamenting the fact that “...we had twice the flavour”.
So if Exoddus!Brewmaster is THIS much fanatic about the brew...
...Then just imagine what he would think of the Glukkon who invented it!
Not only is Soulstorm!Brewmaster far higher ranking then Exoddus!Brewmaster, but the investors video tape that Abe finds makes it clear that Soulstorm!Brewmaster is the mastermind behind Soulstorm Brew in a similar way Molluck was the mastermind behind Mudokon Pops.
The brew, it’s deep flavour, the smooth without being bitter, everything! It’s all because of Soulstorm!Brewmaster. For someone like Exoddus!Brewmaster, who has fiercely dedicated his life to perfecting the flavour of Soulstorm, to the point of manic obsession and isolation away from his glukkon peers and higher ups, Soulstorm!Brewmaster, the creator of Soulstorm Brew, is pretty much a GOD among glukkons in his eyes.
So to make a long story short: I imagine an interaction between Exoddus!Brewmaster and Soulstorm!Brewmaster would go down similar to this:
