i know i talk about this a lot for something that’s old news and very few people care about anymore but. it’s just so interesting to me how almost every major charmie tinhat blog has admitted they don’t actually like armie. they’ve not been able to ignore the fact that he is uncomfortable by what they do to him and his family and is very clearly willing and able to point that out publicly or consistently wipe the blame away from him and place it on elizabeth, so the vast majority of them have just decided to call it a loss, claim he’s a bad person, and admit they didn’t really care about him at all to begin with and were always only here for timothee. 

so that begs the question. why do they still push so hard for charmie? why do they want this man they claim to genuinely love and care for to be in a relationship with someone they all claim is a bad person? wouldn’t you want better for him? like, say, a relationship with someone whom he is proud enough to share openly because they are not already married and treating him as a dirty little secret, someone who genuinely makes him happy enough he is willing to deal with the hatred he gets because he is public about their relationship, someone who has not “attacked” any fans by pointing out that they’re harassing them, and who is almost entirely unproblematic?

wouldn’t you think that would sound better for these people? but it’s not. because lily is a girl and they can’t fetishize that relationship and twist it into whatever fantasies they want. they can’t use that relationship as an excuse to viciously attack a woman who has done nothing wrong to them or anyone else. they can’t be happy for timmy dating a woman, because if he is dating women and not them, then it is a failure on their part and not just because timmy is gay and wouldn’t date any woman. it’s why bisexuality (or any other sexuality besides gay) is never an option to these people. any woman that gets near their fave is a gold digging attention whore beard who is only using him for fame. 

so instead, they focus on the male on male ship they can fantasize about and get themselves off to, defame armie in one post and day dream about his sexuality in another, and write off anyone who criticizes their harassment of these real life people as “haters” or “antis.”

it’s a weird, and awful, yet interesting look into the minds of those who really cannot separate the fictional world of call me by your name with the real world of armie and timothee’s friendship and their separate relationships. it’s why there’s so many posts taking scenes from the movie and referring to the characters as “armie and timmy.” it’s why the easily debunkable rumor that armie was so unprofessional he called timmy by his name instead of by elio’s during a scene and none of the cast or crew caught it in post production spread. these people have the idea that these two actors are inseparable from these characters they played in a movie, and so they are interchangeable. since elio loved oliver, timmy must love armie and vice versa. 

they’re so warped they miss the point of the movie, miss the fact that these mostly straight women are driving actual queer fans out of the fandom of a movie meant for them, and they miss the point that if you actively dislike and post about how awful one half of your OTP is, that means you’re supporting a toxic ship and wishing that on the half you do lust over like. just so they don’t have to accept he might genuinely like a girl. because that would just be nasty.
