Post the first line from the last 10 fics you posted -- and are there any patterns?
World Behind and Home Ahead (rated E, modern AU, Revenge Community Centre found family series, set in Switzerland)
“Put your feet up, sweetness,” Ed said, reaching over to the coffee table for the popcorn bowl.
A Little Embrace (rated E, canon-divergent AU, mermaidstatue!Stede series)
They’re dancing. Ed holds Stede in his arms—real flesh, returned to him, warmer than warm—and even after he’s hummed the final bars of the tune, his blood keeps on thrumming to the melody of StedeStedeStede.
If You Like It That Way (rated E, post-canon innkeepers, fun with stockings)
Post-handy, post-cleaning up, they lay curled together in the cocoon of their bed.
From an Unhinged Snake to an Unhinged Heart (rated M, post-canon Archie and the innkeepers, plus Jim)
Archie liked dropping by Jeff and Bartholemew’s inn. It was the only place in the world, and the only time in her life, that let her be free.
Speak, Easy and Free (rated E, modern AU, Stede and Ed meet in Helsinki)
Stede never celebrated his birthday.
Ed and Stede's French Lessons (rated G, modern AU, half in French, half in English, part of the Ed’s marina series (rated E) set in Ontario, Canada)
“Je vais essayer de te parler en Français tout le temps.”
“What? Good morning, by the way. Thank you for the tea. Ed, why would you speak to me in French?”
Ready for the Journey (rated E, modern AU, it’s the Into the Woods fic!, set in Nova Scotia, Canada)
“Oh, dad! I can’t believe I forgot to tell you!” Alma tugged out of Stede’s embrace, practically bouncing in the doorway of his flat. For a split second, he knew the pleasure of having given his kids such a fun weekend that some important news had skipped Alma’s mind. Then, at her next words, his pleasure spiked into the stratosphere. “This year’s play is Into the Woods!”
Arms Have Charms (rated E, modern AU, sequel to the one where teachers Stede and Ed are chaperones a high school dance)
Summer vacation was upon them, their twentieth summer vacation together.
Bonus line: “Ed, you haven’t come inside me since June!”
I Am In Your Hands (rated E, post-canon, sequel to my Reverse Big Bang; each sequel features travel to a new place, this time its Quebec, featuring Stede and Ed-style Olympic Games and some private games of their own)
Ed swung in round the doorjamb. “What’cha writing?”
“A record of our Olympic Games!” Stede set down his quill and massaged his wrist. He’d been holed up in the cabin all afternoon, writing, as they sailed out of Canadian waters.
“What? But that’s private!”
“No, no, my love, the Games portion. Not our...personal competition.”
Complementary Dinghies (rated G, post-canon innkeepers, Stede and Ed finally row a dinghy together)
Stede went with Lucius in the first dinghy, carrying the sacks of “necessary” items. What Stede thought was necessary and what Lucius thought was necessary differed but, as Lucius pointed out, “you’re the one carrying it all, and it’s your rotting shack, so it’s up to you.”
Now, as Stede rowed them towards the shore, where the inn stood—well, leaned—proudly on its height, Lucius gave him a piece of advice.
It’s hard not to post an extra line or two!
I certainly seem to enjoy in media res, or a bit of quick explanation...
