Gert definitely died and I’m pretty sure basically all of the original Runaways are dead at this point. I don’t remember Karolina going away? But she might’ve gone off w her alien gf to the alien planet
yeah, i definitely remember karolina flying off with her alien shapeshifting girlfriend, that did happen, but i guess she could’ve come back at some point? who knows
also man, i don’t know how much death tends to stick in marvel comics (probably about as well as in dc comics, which is to say really badly), but it’d be hard for me to get back into runaways if all (or even just most) of the original crew is gone - i basically checked out when it was just gert that died, after all
DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT. DO NOT WANT AT ALL :/ Seriously, Marvel. It's as if you want me to drop all of your books for good. I give up. I don't care about big events. I won't follow my favourite characters into them because we won't get any character development. Besides, big events keep getting sillier and stupider and I don't have the patience for it. Group books following big events are even worse. Do not want at all. (Don't like how the art looks, either)
I keep seeing posts about the Captain America reveal, all raising great points. I saw the leak/reveal earlier this week when it first came out. Even before getting into the meat of the issue of taking an anti-fascist character created by two Jewish men just before a huge and significant war against the worst kind of anti-Semitic mass-murdering facism... and turning him into a secret fascist, my reaction was... whut?
I don’t get this one. Both DC and Marvel have taken boneheaded turns in an attempt to shock readers into buying more books, but with DC doing their bi-annual confusing-totally-not-a-reboot reboot, this one smacks especially hard of me-too headline grabbing,
It’s especially bad because aside from the tasteless and downright gross points above, it makes no actual goddamned sense.
I mean, it’s not interesting in the least as a reveal. It doesn’t cast the Cap in a new light or take him in a cool new direction. It’s not the result of a long character arc of change. It’s completely nonsensical. It reeks of marketing cynicism, even before you open the package. Especially since, unless you live under a rock, you know this will stick about as strongly as Cap’s sudden aging, his death, loss of shield, or his stint as a fucking werewolf.
If they were going to do something stupid, they could at least have not chosen a nonsensical “twist” that’s an insult to Cap’s creators, as well as countless real people.
