"Yeah, yeah, sure. Lotta big talk. I betcha can't make me flustered so quick."
Where the conversation started at this point, he wasn't entirely sure. It was just mindless talking that turned into smack talk then transitioned into teasing banter as an epic showdown of Mario Kart ensued with the two of them on his couch.
What he should probably know at this point is that Kate is a very challenge accepted type of person; someone who would happily do pretty much anything just to prove the other person wrong and do so with a smile on their face—someone like, frankly, himself.
Even though what the duplicator just mentioned was more of a passing comment, Kate still definitely took it as a true bet since right as the round ended, she turned towards him and climbed right into his lap with no hesitation. Legs on either side of him, straddling and facing him with little space between them already; hands were immediately on his chest and creeping upwards as if she concocted this plan the second he mentioned anything.
Admittedly, Billy was caught off guard, and it showed on his face with brows raised and slightly widened blue eyes; even a chill of shock and anticipation jolted through him. But quickly he rebounded, chuckling as a grin crept to his lips.
"Comfy?" Asked nonchalantly with a slight tilt to his head in interest as if she didn't just do this. "Guess ya took what I said as a challenge, perhaps?" He said this last word with more humorous exaggeration, since it wasn't really a common word in his vocabulary. But overall his tone dripped with curious tease, genuinely wondering where she would go next with this.
As soon as he mentioned a bet, all her focus was on that. Her whole life kind of felt like proving people who bet against her wrong, and even though this is in a very different context her nature couldn't be denied. She bided her time, finished the course, let him think she wouldn't respond and when he least expected it-
She settled onto his lap, adjusting just a bit too much to be innocent and hands trailing up into his hair to tug at the strands. "Funny, you're the one who made the bet. And you should know by now that I like to win."
The fact that he was surprised at all made her grin with triumph, but that wasn't the bet, was it? Her hips shifted against his again, slowly.
"Yeah, comfy. Could be better though."
