Dad Javier Pena

Part two in the Dad Pedro series. Enjoy some Javier Pena and his kids. 

Word Count: 845

Characters: Javier, fem reader, Steve Murphy, Connie Murphy, Olivia Murphy, Original Kid Characters.

“Whoa, pequeño! Hold on. Mama is still in there.” Javier scooped up the four-year-old as he tried to sneak past him. 

“But Papi, I want to see him,” Alejandro whined. 

“Alejandro Pena, wait. He will be here soon enough. Let Mama rest.” Javier carried his eldest over to the waiting room. He set him down in a chair between him and Steve. 

Alejandro crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. “Babies take forever.” 

Javier hid a smirk in his hand. “Why don’t you go play with Olivia?” 

“Papi! Girls are yucky. I want to stay with you.” Alejandro scowled. 

Steve was outright laughing at this point. 

Javier pointed a finger at his best friend. “Cállate, Gringo. I don’t want to hear it.” 

“I’m not saying anything.” Steve’s mustache was twitching as he tried and failed to hide a smile. 

“Papi, I’m bored.” Little fingers tugged on Javier’s shirt. “I want Mama.” 

“Patience, mi Hijo. Mama is busy.” Javier grabbed the small hand that was insistently pulling on his clothes. “What should we name the new little one?” 

“My brother’s name is going to be… Juan.” Alejandro gave a small nod of the head. 

Both Javier and Steve winced at that name. 

“What if it’s a girl?” Steve spoke up. 

Alejandro shot Steve a look so contempt-filled, Javier chuckled. He had seen that look before on Alejandro’s mama’s face a lot when they had been dating. 

“Tío Steve, girls are yucky. It’s got to be a brother. I asked for a brother. Papi is never wrong.” Alejandro turned up his nose at Steve. 

Javier snapped a warning look at Steve when his former partner covered up a muttered bullshit with a cough. 

Silence fell before Alejandro began shifting again. Javier could see other people getting agitated. He stood up. He checked his watch. It was an hour before noon but he figured an early lunch would be best. “Come on, pequeño. Let’s go get some food. I’m hungry.” 

“But… Mama?” Alejandro shot a look at the double doors where his mama had been wheeled back. 

“Mama will be fine. They will send someone for us if they need us.” Javier picked up his son and carried him down the hall. 

“Olivia. Let’s go get some lunch.” Steve stood up and motioned to his eight-year-old daughter. 

Olivia abandoned the toys she was playing with a fell in by her dad’s side. “Where are we going, Tío Javier?” 

“To get some food.” Javier led the way to the hospital elevator. 

Once they were settled in the cafeteria with trays of food, it all went quiet. Alejandro was finally occupied with his food and Javier had a few minutes of peace. 

Javier choked on his soggy sandwich at his son’s question. 

“Papi? How is the baby coming out?” Alejandro looked up from his stack of carrots. 

“Coming out? How was it put there in the first place?” Olivia followed up. 

Both Javier and Steve were now choking. They were saved by Connie running up to them. 

“Mama!” Olivia cried out. 

“Congratulations. It’s a boy. Both mother and baby are doing fine and wish to see the both of you.” Connie waved her hands towards the exit of the cafeteria. “Go on. We will be up later.” 

“I was right? I have a new brother?” Alejandro abandoned his carrot sticks and ran for the exit. Javier was right behind him.

Javier stepped into the darkened room. His first thought was of you. He saw you with your hair loose and spread out around your shoulders. You looked pale and tired. He dropped his gaze down to the blue blanket swaddled bundle in your arms. 

“Mama?” Alejandro ran to the bedside. “Is that my new brother?” 

“Yes, mi Hijo. This is Mateo Javier Pena.” You patted the bed and Javier helped his firstborn up onto the sheets. 

“Javier? But that’s Papi’s name.” Alejandro studied the new infant. 

Javier stepped up next to you. He laid eyes on his new son, for the first time. He had a thick head of dark curls and his face was ruddy. He had dried tear tracks on his cheeks. 

“Hey, Hermosa. How are you feeling?” Javier swept his hand across your back. 

“Tired. But I’ll live. Want to hold your son?” 

Javier accepted the small infant with practiced ease. It had been a while since Alejandro was this little but muscle memory must have kicked in. Javier easily supported his neck and head with one palm. “Hey, pequeño. I’m your Papi.” 

Javier gently swayed with Mateo for a bit. Wide blue eyes looked up at him and Javier stared back. He was captivated by the new infant in his arms. 

“Can I hold him, Papi?” Alejandro pulled on Javier’s shirt. 

Javier gently set Mateo in Alejandro’s arms. You had your arms wrapped around both boys. All three looked up at him at the same moment and smiled. 

Javier had to force back a sob. He almost didn’t have this. He was grateful you never gave up on him. “Thank you, mi corazón. Thank you.”

Out of the Shadows (Into the Light) - A Grant Ward Redemption Fic

AN: Just a snippet of what I’ve been working on—a long fic (M-rated) dedicated to helping Grant Ward find redemption alongside his former S.H.I.E.L.D. partner, the live wire Inhuman Olivia Murphy (OC), as they set out on a new mission: bringing an end to HYDRA and finally getting themselves some closure. They are the relationship equivalent of a shaken up can of soda and a bag of funyuns (Guess which is which, it’s won’t be hard.) This fic is primarily set post season 1, and maintains most of the season’s canon up until 1x22: “Beginning of the End”.

“Olivia," Ward says more firmly.

Murphy's eyes carry a tempestuous gleam as she shrugs exasperatedly. “I don't know what you want me to say, Ward—that I deal with my trauma just fine? That I crack jokes to keep things light and funny, even though all I see when I close my eyes is a highlight reel of the horror shit show that happened at the Asylum?" 

She steps up in front of him, nearly toe-to-toe, and tilts her head to look up at him. Storm clouds swirl before her eyes flash with indignance. "At least I don't deal with my trauma like a washed-up, emotionally-inept high school quarterback who thinks his coach's dream of seeing him make it in the big league is all he could have ever hoped to achieve in life.”

The room would be suffocatingly quiet without a bottled natural disaster like Olivia Murphy to keep things lively, and if the rickety old air conditioner weren't buzzing besiegely like a mechanical beehive held together by good old F&D—A whole lot of faith and duct tape.

When Ward opens his mouth, Murphy clamps it down with a sharply raised brow. She backs off, but her razor gaze never wavers.

It's a blessing in disguise, her silencing him. Gives him the opportunity to think, stay logical. Collect himself rather than act on what he'd rationalize as self-defense. Murphy's only lashing out because she feels backed into a corner. It's not him, it's her.

Ward has to be careful of his word choice because he feels like he's tightrope-walking on a power line, and if he so much as slips fourteen thousand volts could burn right through him. A pissed off Murphy is not one he's seen enough to familiarize himself with, even before she was taken by HYDRA, and the way she is now is like the hair-raising static charge in the air right before a lightning strike.

It would be easy, how deeply Ward could cut her. He's certain she knows it, too.

Despite how long it's been since Murphy’s death, Ward never threw out what he learned about her over the years. He's a bit of a packrat in that respect. His greatest weapon is his memory, though more specifically, all his little observances. When he picks up on something, he just can't seem to let it go. What he did know about Murphy he compartmentalized. Whether out of grief, shame, or mere sentimentality—or just for the sake of cleaning up the space—he can't say. He knows her ticks, her tricks, and most everything that would make her bleed. All he would have to do is dust off the folder with her name, and turn to the first page.

He could do it. He could absolutely eviscerate her.

There has only ever been one time when Ward has done it—torn into Murphy with everything he had. It was back at the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. When he had panicked about his attachment, about ruining his mission, about disappointing Garrett, about wanting a real friend. All because a young woman named Olivia Murphy decided to devastate his life.

He was vicious. He was cruel. He threw the whole damn book at her and laughed.

Garrett would have been proud.

It was fucked up that she even came back to him after that, though he did admittedly find a semblance of comfort in knowing she was almost as messed as he was. He's not sure Murphy would do that again today, not after everything she's been through. Not after learning all the things he's done. Not after learning the Ward she knew as her best friend for almost a decade was just HYDRA’s puppet. He was more real with her than anyone if he’s to be completely honest with himself. He's trying to make himself better for her, make himself good and real enough to her that she stays, and enough to convince himself that he feels worthy of it.

If he does that to Murphy now, verbally slaughters her, he's certain she'd never look twice at him again.

Her file is twice at thick now compared to what it was then. Even considering that makes him sick. Without another thought, Ward takes his file on Olivia Murphy and hurls it into the deepest, darkest depths of his mind—right where he keeps his worst memories. Because fuck that part of him to hell.

He hates it. He hates it. He—

Shame washes over him, humbling him like a day spent in a pillory.

God. He can’t ever do that to her. She’s all he has.

Hold a gun to his head, he doesn't care. He'll tell whoever is behind it to pull the trigger because he’d rather die than lose Olivia Murphy again.

I was scrolling through my dash, like usual, but then I stumbled upon this glorious & Hilarious comic drawn by @askfriskandcompany . After reading it, I just had to do a voice dub of this. So I asked my friend @jordanthecat11 if she could voice Olivia & Frisk. She said yes, after getting her voice recordings I did my part and I have to say. The dub came out beautifully! 

I hope you all enjoy :3
