I never realized until tonight, but One Direction and 5sos were really fucking there for me when I was growing up. Their music really distracted me from the insane nightmare I was living. I don’t even care anymore if people called me a fucking obsessed fangirl. I used to get bullied in middle school because I loved One Direction and 5sos. Their music fucking got me through everyday of middle school and my high school life. My parents were divorcing and my father fucking left my siblings and I , and all through the mist of my early teen years the only thing helping me cope with it all was One Direction and 5sos.Coming from a strong LatinX family that believes that mental health can just be brushed off and or does not exist in young teens really fucked me up. So I had to find my own ways of coping with my mental health. I listened to their music day and night everyday. And when things got really fucking bad I used to recite every song from every album in order to calm myself.

The next time I see someone bullying a kid from liking a band so much I want you to think of your own coping mechanism whether they’re bad or not. Put yourselves in their shoes and view life from a different perspective.
