Azazel==> Go into the storm
You settle your eggs with Exen and bundle Myrglo up in your arms as you head out into the coming storm. It’s full force hasn’t hit yet, the wind a little stronger, the thunder rumbling the sky and faint flickers lit the clouds. It was going to be a good one. You went off to find your pack, they were already gathered at a cliff. ‘Cliff’, the drop off was only a few meters. Trees lined behind them, protection to draw errant strikes if any came to close. Setting your son down, you shifted fully into a barkfiend, Myrglo following suit.
A few minutes later, the storm rolled in with its full force, the rain coming down hard enough to bounce up off of the ground and the first good visible strikes of lightning flitted across the sky, thunder pealing seconds after it. You and the rest of the skreeleen raised your heads and howled. It started as all do, ‘long ago’ or ‘in a time before our lives’ or ‘our ancestors’. The next flash of light. The who. Another streak. Then where. Another. The actual meat of the story launched. This one was The Tale of the Harpoon and the Heron. You liked this one.
Azazel==> Wake up to sleep
You wake up with an unholy shrieking, it was a good thing that you didn’t seem to be anywhere in the cabin that you had fallen asleep in perigees ago. You would have set Exen on edge and what’s worse than a xenoqueen on guard at you? You had raking pain shooting from your horns to your feet, a rare thing as you didn’t have nerve endings to pick up external pain in your lower legs. You felt cold and hot and tired and alter all at ones. Adrenaline pumped through you and yet you still felt foggy. It confused you. You hated confusion. You shriek again. You know you can be heard. It wasn’t very long until your mediculler came running in, shushing. He assured you it was okay and you’d be fine. How the hell would you be fine?! It felt like you were being ripped apart by the tendrils of hell and the spears of a tundra at the same time from the inside. You tried to say as much, only coming out as another unholy sound from deep within. You were shushed again by him, hand placed against your bicep. You didn’t feel the tiny sting of the needled he held in his fingers, plunger deftly pushed all the way down. In moments, you were pulled back into the haze of sleep.

Ember steps from the loud ruckus of the bazaar to the quiet side streets. The murderer - the would-be murderer, they correct themself - follows.
They step lightly, delicately, a bit unsteadily. Better to look like all of the things associated with weakness. Better to look a prime target.
The question, of course, was why someone from outside their normal universe wanted them dead; it was a question that made the hairs on the back of their neck stand on end.
He should’ve brought Kall along. (He is, in a sense, glad he did not. He wants to rip and tear until it is done.) He stops at a deserted corner and pulls out his phone, scrolling for a moment, as if completely unaware, measuring how close the intent is with each moment.
It tastes awful.
And then it is upon them.
The man is a living oil-slick, all iridescence and dark hair and greasy pale skin, and he reminds them of someone, but they cannot quite determine who. The chains he carries, though, are inscribed with runes that absolutely are familiar. Ember nods, looks at him, and immediately makes him go the fuck to sleep, before he has a chance to use them.
Then, he takes the body to the meadow, ties him, and takes the chains, melting them to slag.
I guess I’ve just been bored lately. Maya is gone and the new Council is running smoothly. Transitions are starting.
I’m lonely.
