Tempered Expectations

Fandom: One Piece Rating: T(een) Warnings: Mild profanity, food/eating Character focus: Roronoa Zoro, Blackfoot Sanji, Perona, & Charlotte Pudding Word Count: 4033 Written for 2022's One Piece Reverse Bang, based on Novicity's absolutely wonderful art (reposted below with permission, but also please check out her twitter and support their post!).

Summary:

Perona distracted Sanji’s rage again by widening her eyes to a plea. “Please, Mr. Cook?” Sanji could do nothing. “Sure, fine. You can help Pudding and me decorate the sweets.” As Perona cheered, Sanji couldn’t stop the sinking feeling in his stomach that this was a mistake. -- Zoro's in the way, it's Perona's fault, there's a kitchen raid, and it's impossible to cook in peace.

Law adjusted his client's pillows a little and pulled out the seafarer deck she liked to cheat with. Worn and slightly sticky from use, white streaks scoured the color from the mirrored octopuses on the back of some of the cards.

"Not a damn one of them."

Law’s a death doula to a dying Kokoro. He plays the trumpet in his spare time to aid the transition from one world to the next. Modern AU. Uplifting.

The cards and the model were from various advertising campaigns about the place. Trumpet? From a wiki too, I hope! This probably only means something to me and the artist, but oh well!
