solution to the optical illusion question from earlier

this is called mach bands. earlier, i asked if you can see the illusion and you all failed (nerds without se! what to expect...) no, i couldn't either. i keep googling until i found some video finally explaining what the supposed illusion was.

so, between (1) and (2), it SEEMS like there's a one pixel border, darker than the (1) itself. but in reality there's no such thing and that's our brain/optic nerves and whatever else "enhancing the difference".

if you focus really hard, you can also "see", a one pixel border, lighter than the (2) itself.

so basically, our optic system makes the very edge of (1) darker and (2) lighter. kind of like comic outlining.

so i thought hey, istp should be the best type to see this with strong se and ti logical focus.

the whole thing, if you really focus, also can seem like "slightly plucked upwards" where the bands connect. so it's kind of like we are looking at this thing from above. but if we were to look from side then we would see something like this:

Finally got around to styling Optic Illusion, I’ve been kinda not in the mood to style my new dolls, and considering it takes me 2-4 hours on average to style each doll, I definitely need to be in the mood to do it right lol I got Nadja before Giselle, but I’ve been really excited to see her straightened so she’s up first. I adore Nadja but straight hair is kind of boring to style lol 

Here’s Giselle with her hair freshly washed (the detachable bust is incredibly helpful for washing, much appreciate):

The waves are actually pretty okay for stock hair, and if I liked messier 40′s curls I would have kept them..but no lol Half styled (fully straightened and then given a looser wave):

Her hair is absolutely soaked in Water Wax in these photos, I use it to make the hair more pliable and get a good idea of how the wave pattern is coming along.  I’m incredibly happy with how she turned out, the hair is a lot longer than I anticipated- my only small qualm is that it’s longer in the front by about a quarter of an inch. I prefer the back to be longer than the front, but with her wave pattern it actually works in her favor so I’m not cutting it.  Right now she’s drying after a full wash and condition, with a hairnet to maintain and refine the wave pattern, and tomorrow she’ll get dressed in something other than her hideous stock outfit lol I think she might be my favorite Giselle of the four I own, but it’s hard to say because 2 of them are being rerooted and the other has yet to be styled.
