For the first time in its life, Kaiser wasn’t sure of itself. Its last observation mission had been to some remote backwater planet with little advanced technology, and only two sentient creatures it had encountered, and frankly it had been disastrous. It had been attacked within two minutes of arrival. Now, it was in the middle of a city, with clearly more advanced technology, passersby were giving it questioning, and in some cases even scared looks. The last thing it needed was a repeat performance.

It hurriedly ducked into a side street, passing through it swiftly and emerging free from the crowd. Its optic swept left and right as it examined the area, trying to get its bearings, when something caught its attention. The green sensor focused on the approaching form. It was mechanical, that much was clear; a little shorter than its own platform, quadruped, dual optic design, both of which were fixed on it currently.

It checked the operation timer... at the very least if things were about to go awry, it had gone a full five minutes this time.

“Greetings, unidentified unit. Inquiry: is this area restricted? Request: state your identification and intentions.”
