🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐 ... On February 16, 1781 Pierre François André Méchain discovered the small planetary nebula M97, located in the constellation of Ursa Major. It is located about 2000 light years away from us and due to the two darker portions visible inside it has been renamed the Owl Nebula (or Owl). - Planetary nebulae are formed at the end of the "life" of low-mass stars, during the red giant phase, the outer layers of the star are expelled through pulsations and strong stellar winds. The bright, hot core emits ultraviolet radiation that ionizes the star's ejected outer layers. This highly energetic nebular gas envelope re-radiates absorbed ultraviolet energy and appears as a planetary nebula. Costellazione dell’Orsa Maggiore

Il mito narra come la bellissima ninfa Callisto, ancella della cacciatrice Artemide, fosse rapita e sedotta da Zeus, il quale assunse le sembianze della dea cacciatrice, e infine si manifestò con le sue vere sembianze e nonostante Callisto si opponesse con tutte le sue forze, Zeus la possedette. In punizione per la castità perduta, Artemide l'allontanò. Dall'unione col padre degli dei, Callisto partorì Arcade, ma Era, moglie di Zeus, pazza di gelosia, la trasformò in un’Orsa, ed in questa forma ella fuggì nella foresta. Arcade crebbe e divenne un cacciatore; passati quindici anni, un giorno, mentre era a caccia, Callisto udì la sua voce e fu desiderosa di vederlo. Arcade era sul punto di ucciderla quando Zeus impietosito intervenne appena prima potesse commettere il matricidio, fece alzare improvvisamente un forte vento, che deviò la freccia scagliata contro l'orsa, e trasportò entrambi in cielo, come Orsa Maggiore ed Arcade nella costellazione del Bifolco.
