I know we all like to joke about Fukuzawa’s spectacularly bad taste in men, but I think we should consider the possibility that it might be the other way around. Maybe Fukuzawa just inspires insane, manic levels of devotion and obsession in the men who fall for him, did you ever think of that

So scenario:

Chuuya is transmasc, has been his whole life, it's not a big deal and no one really gives a shit when you live on the streets. Anyway. He and Dazai fuck during their Mafia days, and have a baby out of it. Horrific idea? Definitely! Anyway, after Dazai defects, Chuuya visits him with exactly one purpose: deposits the baby on him. Congrats, its yours now.

Anyway. Dazai cannot raise a baby and he knows it, so he takes the baby to Ango and dumps it on him. Call this repayment. And blows up his office, because, what else would he do.

Ango also cannot raise a baby, and so he gives the baby to Chief Taneda, hoping his boss will have a better idea of what to do with it than he does. Chief Taneda does not have a better idea of what to do than he does. And so, he hands the baby to Fukuzawa, reasoning that if he already raised two teenagers, how much harder can a baby be?

The baby is in Agency custody for about a year, after which Fukuzawa hands it back to Taneda, because this isn't working. Taneda, his hands tied, decides to briefly give the baby to Ayatsuji while trying to find it actual custody. Is it the worst idea he's had? Maybe.

Anyway. Ayatsuji has zero clue what to do with the baby and zero interest in it. However, he somehow winds up stuck with it in his basement for two whole years. Ango visits, sometimes. He's not as awful with the baby, but still not good.

Thankfully, Taneda finds custody for the baby - Mori, who has decided this is a good plan. The baby is no longer a baby, is about 3 years old, and is a menace. Mori's custody lasts until the kid nearly dies in an assassination attempt before he decides it's too risky and gives the kid back to Taneda.

Now, Taneda only really has one option: Hunting Dogs custody. He gives the kid to Fukuchi and crew and says, please don't kill it. The Hunting Dogs have a ball of a time. Teruko hates the kid. Tachihara is uncomfortable. Jouno and Tecchou are shockingly good with the kid in their own ways. Huntimg Dogs get custody for three whole years before Fukuchi ships the kid back on the basis of risk.

Now, at this point, Dazai is in the ADA, and so Taneda gives the kid back to the ADA. Dazai is horrible with them. Kunikida is worse. Yosano gives them wine. Ranpo ignores them. Fukuzawa doesn't know what to do with them. This lasts for a year and a half.

After a year and a half, a custody hearing is held.

Which option below is the best to raise the hypothetical child, age 8?

The Agency as a collective

Dazai, with or without Agency support

The Hunting Dogs: had custody for 3 years

Give them back to Ayatsuji (and Tsujimura) in the basement

Force Ango into it

Give Mori another shot

Kouyou: its Chuuya's baby after all

Chuuya: isn't it his kid to begin with??

ive had this fic idea for months and months. and im still thinking about it but i dont think i have the motivation (or skill) to properly write one, so here you go

what if jouno agreed to work with fukuchi, but didnt betray him right that second, and just pretended to join the DOA? what if he was just quietly gathering information or plotting to stop them someway? what if he still got aya on his side, this little girl nobody would EVER think was plotting with a military officer? and was working to try and alert the ADA somehow that he's on their side, while still pretending to be on DOA's?

surely jouno's ability and keen hearing would be invaluable to this sort of mission. nobody can even claim he'd be lying either. he tells fukuchi that they should take a different route because he "hears footsteps" and what does he even do?? say no? of course not, jouno's the one that hears the best. fukuchi wouldn't even doubt it for a second, because he was confident that jouno'd be easy to recruit anyway.

how would he gain the ADA's trust? they already doesnt trust him at all, he's tried to kill or arrest them many times by this point. how would he fool fukuchi that whole time? would he have an internal struggle like tachihara did? would he struggle over the fact that he was only ever shown the light to later be turned evil again? knowing fukuchi never actually saw hope in his redemption? knowing he was viewed as irredeemable?

would jouno's additional support change everything? (and by extension, tecchou's, since he never went missing). would jouno tell tecchou what was going on, or pretend fukuchi was still on the "side of justice"? would they tell teruko?

would ame no gozen ever fuse with fukuchi, or would fyodor be stopped somehow? HOW BADLY WOULD THE TIMELINE SHIFT? just from one person's decision?
