so What Was Up With That One teenage Superhero team That Was owned by LexCorp for a bit
The supermen of america
Wnat ever Happend to Them?
The found the kind of heroic work they were actually cut out for.
I've talked about this before but I feel like it's always worth reiterating because there IS something glamorous about the superhero lifestyle. From the outside at least. You're stronger, faster, more powerful than anyone around you. You get to feel the most special a person possibly can. You get to do good work that matters, sticking it to the kind of bad guys so many of us feel otherwise powerless against in our daily lives. You have the respect and admiration of not just your peers, or even your community, but the whole world if you play your cards right.
Just one problem with that: Being a superhero is the worst job in the world, and you will find that out about 10 seconds after you start doing it.
(The famous poster of the team sent out during their time under Lexcorp)
The Supermen of America were assembled very soon after Superman's seeming death and return to life by Lex Luthor. Using his false premise of himself as a reformed philanthropist to send out a call for superhuman teens after the death of teen music star Junior K.D due to gang violence. Finding six willing participants to the tune of the team's leader Outburst, White Lotus, Loser, Brahma, Pyrogen and Psilencer. Being debuted to the world as a new "weapon" against juvenile delinquency and gang warfare in Metropolis' poorest communities.
This new era was cut tragically short during the team's first mission however when the young man known only to the public as Psilencer was killed in a shootout with unidentified gangsters. Left rightly shocked and shaken by the loss the team was hurried along by their media handlers who introduced a new 6th member for the team named Maximum. Secretly a plant on the team, Maximum was a college sports star whose career had been ruined by a tragic accident and was rendered superhuman by an experimental Lexcorp spinal implant. Meaning the company had immense blackmail over the young man, using him to keep tabs on the disposition and actions of the team even during their private moments.
Their bumbling through the superhero life would continue. Often forcing Superman or other heroes to intervene before their youthful showboating caused a greater damage or loss of life. While the teens were outwardly friendly to their "colleagues" in the superhero community, the brash and confrontational marketing of the team by Lexcorp that they were compelled to maintain even in public left the chasm between them and the other heroes growing ever wider. Making them even more isolated and dependent on direction from Luthor himself.
The mask would be fully pulled off the entire enterprise when Luthor, as he always does, overplayed his hand. Sending the team to steal a mysterious capsule being held by STAR Labs. A capsule that contained a dangerous energy being named the Unimaginable which had clashed with both the Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps. The unleashing of this being drawing the attention of an alien armada familiar with it, who in their panic sought to "cleanse" the Earth rather than let the creature escape.
Superman and a handful of other heroes intervened, forcing peace with the alien armada, capturing the creature, and uncovering Luthor's part in the plot spiraling out of control. Superman made a seemingly clandestine agreement with Luthor that if he released the teenage Supermen from any contracts or obligations to Lexcorp, and turned over control of the team's high tech headquarters, then Superman wouldn't bring the story to the news media. (This was all, of course, rendered moot when Lois Lane of the Daily Planet blew the lid off the story only days later. Public consensus is that Superman knew that Lane was onto Luthor already which is why he made the deal in the first place).
Ever since then the Supermen of America have stepped back from the spotlight. Rather than rushing out into violent confrontations with monster or superhuman criminals, the team have taken their original mission to heart. Acting as outreach to the youth of Metropolis and the world, helping to undercut youth gangs or other delinquent enterprises. Only responding to larger threats as search and rescue operatives OR when called upon as emergency manpower by other hero organizations.
All things considered the young heroes seem much happier with that outcome. Able to do work that matters without needing to hone their skills in violence that they are neither physically nor mentally suited for. Creating a fuller community of heroes who, as always, are unconcerned with the siren song of media spotlight.

Chapter 2: October 27, 2023 - May 15, 2024
Thinking of Character A and B who have a troubled, dysfunctional relationship, who genuinely do care about each other's wellbeing and want to help each other but really struggle to gel well together.
Thinking about Character A relentlessly stuffing down all their feelings about every argument, every stressor, every infuriating thing B does/says, because taking care of them is more important than getting along, until something finally tips them over the edge and in a moment of blind rage they're a lot more like a whumper.
Thinking about afterward too. The first time these two abrasive personalities shrink, one shocked and scared, the other just as shocked at themself and ashamed. B knew they had their troubles but they didn't realize A hated them, much less that much. And A floundering to backpedal and fix it because they don't, they don't hate them, but is there really any coming back from what just happened?
