The waiting was the hard part. Max and Eddie had been taken straight in for treatment, as they were the worst hurt. Everyone else with a minor injury, as least as far as the nurses could tell, were having to wait until a doctor was free.
Steve watched as more people poured in, the victims of the earthquake caused by Vecna. Some walking wounded, some injured being carried in by loved ones, some that looked like they were already dead. Proof that it had all been for nothing. That Max had sacrificed herself for nothing. That they'd all gotten beaten and battered for nothing.
As the ER got more and more crowded, Steve knew that they were getting pushed further and further down the list in priority. Sure, if he'd been honest about his injuries, he'd probably be in by now. But it didn't feel important, he'd managed without treatment for over a day, waiting a bit longer didn't feel like much.
Even more people came in, and there weren't enough seats. Steve looked at their group, trying to decide how to take up less seats. Lucas, Dustin, and Erica sharing two seats between the three of them. Robin and Nancy in a seat each, either side of the kids. Steve made the choice to stand, offering his seat to a woman who was obviously struggling to stay upright.
Steve paced in the tiny space, only able to take a few steps in each direction before reaching someone else that was having to stand or someone choosing to sit on the floor. It was the only thing to take his mind off what had caused the hospital to become so crowded, practically overrun. He was starting to feel a little woozy, maybe from blood loss, maybe from exhaustion, maybe from having not eaten since before he went into the lake, maybe from lack of oxygen having been strangled twice. He still didn't mention it, believing that other people needed the help more.
It felt like half of Hawkins had crammed itself into the ER, and it was putting Steve even more on edge. There was barely room to breathe, let alone move. And of course, it was then that his injuries finally caught up to him, leaving him unconscious before he hit the floor.

Summary: Theo puts together enough signs to know his time in Beacon Hills is running short. Either he goes after the pack's newest enemy alone, or he'll be dragged back to hell with Tara. At least, that's what he thinks is going on.
Red flag #5: The sword Liam has a piece of Kira’s sword in his room. The same sword that sent Theo to hell, the one that he made the pack break in order to get information out of him, as insurance to not be sent back with his sister. He’s not meant to see it, he knows. He goes into Liam’s room while the beta’s napping, fallen asleep on top of his schoolwork and cuddled adorably in his messy blankets on the bed. Theo only wants to know where he wants to get dinner from while his parents have date night, and turns to leave the second he sees Liam asleep. Beacon Hills is throwing more and more supernatural nonsense at them in recent weeks, ramping up to where Scott called Peter for backup. Since he’s taking a gap year after this semester, and taking over protecting Beacon Hills from Scott, Liam’s had enough on his plate. Coaxing the beta to wake up from the couch to go to sleep in his own bed is hard enough work. Theo takes what he can get. The chimera shuts the lamp in the corner off, but his eyes catch something in the dark, like light hitting metal just under Liam’s dresser. He kneels and touches at it lightly, then jerks back, nearly falling on his ass. It’s cold, but just a touch burns Theo’s skin like nothing else. When he realizes what it is, he gets out of Liam’s room as fast as he can, nearly falling down the stairs and into Jenna, who’s packing her purse up to leave. She gives him a reassuring smile, but what he gives back has to be anything but calm. Why does Liam still have a piece of the sword?
we got time (but we're only human)
“What happened?” he asks carefully. Mickey works his jaw, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, but no sound comes out. “Hey. It’s okay,” Lip tells him gently. He puts a hand on Mickey’s shoulder, his grip firm. “Just tell me what happened.” Mickey shakes his head and looks away. “It came out of nowhere.”

Whumptober Day 8 & Day 13 - Overcrowded ER & "I don't feel so good"
The place is crowded.
Sasaki curses under his breath as he scans for an open seat. There's nothing. The atmosphere prickles with anxiety and all it does is make Sasaki want to yell at someone, anyone to help. But it doesn't work that way and getting himself escorted out is the last thing he wants when-
"Shuumei-san?"
He snaps out of it as Miyano leans further into his support, blinking up at him with fever-glazed eyes. Sasaki bites the inside of his cheek and eyes the queue for reception with a slowly building dread.
"Mya-chan, d'ya think you can keep standing?" he asks through the lump in his throat, trying not to think about the heat he can feel radiating from him.
"I...I'm not sure," he whispers, airily and Sasaki feels the truth of his hesitation in how his legs have started shaking. Thankfully, a woman notices them and waves them over, gesturing to her now open seat next to a young girl holding an obviously broken arm. On autopilot Sasaki gets them there, easing Miyano into the chair and thanking the woman, mechanically. He know it's rude but he pays no attention to anything she might say. Miyano sinks into the seat and Sasaki does want to leave him but he has to. Instead he shrugs off his jacket and lays it over him.
"I gotta go get you checked in, ok? I'll be right back."
"I'll be here," Miyano replies, still quiet but with enough humour that Sasaki can't help but smile. He quickly squeezes Miyano's hand and scurries off to join the queue, behind a man with a poorly bandaged hand he tries not to look at.
Thankfully, the receptionists are efficient and in no time at all he's rattling off Miyano's symptoms and personal details and pointing over to where Miyano's still sitting.
"They'll see you soon, ok?"
Sasaki...can't be sure about that but he takes the offered emesis basin, thanks her, and hurries as much as he can back to Miyano's side. The woman and her daughter are gone so Sasaki sinks into the seat next to Miyano.
"What'd...they say?"
"You'll be seen soon," Sasaki replies.
Miyano hums and it sounds pained as much as agreeable. Sasaki doesn't hesitate to coax him closer, tucking him against his side and trying resolutely not to think about how hot Miyano's breaths are against his neck. The last time he checked, his fever was 39.3 but Sasaki has no way of knowing if it's gone up since then.
"You holdin' up ok?" It feels weak even as he asks it and Sasaki wants to kick himself but there are dozens of people here and Saski has no way of knowing when they'll be seen and he feels so useless.
"'m tired." It comes out as a whine and Sasaki runs his fingers through sweat-damp hair. Screw the people around him.
"Sleep, I'll wake you when they call you."
Miyano shifts a little, likely trying to get comfortable in the hard plastic chair. Sasaki accommodates as best he can but with the harsh lights and the constant bustle of movement and noise, he's not sure it matters. He watches the room around him, glaring at one older man who looks at them just a bit too long and a bit too sideways. He starts every time a nurse or doctor comes to call someone through and feels a little more helpless each time it's not them. Logically, this is a good thing: not being prioritised means Miyano isn't dying or anything. but when he's curled up on a waiting room chair shivering and suffering Sasaki can't help it.
Suddenly, Miyano lurches upright, and Sasaki barely avoids a knock to the chin but it's forgotten immediately. Miyano doubles over with a whine and gags. Sasaki fumbles the basin into his hands as Miyano retches again. But there's nothing to come up so all he does is gag and cough and choke. Sasaki holds him through it, murmuring meaningless nonsense like 'breathe. it's ok. I've got you'. His eyes burn.
When Miyano is finally done, he rocks back, slumping down in the seat. He looks even paler now, more exhausted. Sasaki abandons the basin and gently wipes away the drying tears on his cheeks. Miyano leans into the touch but Sasaki hates the way his face crumples like he's holding back more tears.
"I don't...I don't feel so good," Miyano whispers, shoulders climbing to his ears.
"I know, Yoshikazu," Sasaki gentles, cupping his flushed face and guiding him back to rest against his collar. "'m sorry."
Miyano makes a sound something like a protest, but Sasaki just shushes him quietly and tries not to let his heartbreak show on his face.
The door opens again. Another person is called. Sasaki wants to scream, but that wouldn't get them anywhere. So he tucks Miyano closer, runs fingers through his hair as he shivers, and feels helpless.
All they can do is wait.
I know you’re busy with whumptober so get to this whenever- but! I need more ER nurse Jake, angst, or fluff, or insanity.
I can see is him being exhausted and falling asleep on everyone and getting passed around from shoulder to shoulder.
Short, but connected to the whumptober too... kind of "Hold My hand" , no I'm not sorry

Could you pl3ase explain how can i interpret the 'overcrowded E.R.' ? I mean , do we have to interpret it like e.r. is overcrowded with patients
Or can we write that ut is overcrowded with the pateints friends and family ? Or anything else ?
An ER could be overcrowded with patients, which could be whump for a character who works at the hospital, such as a doctor, who becomes overwhelmed or overworked (which will tie nicely with the working to exhaustion prompt 😈) or it can be whump for the patient who may have to wait to be seen. Perhaps their condition worsens in that time? Or maybe they hate crowds?
Or it can be overcrowded with family and friends. Maybe whumpee has a lot of people who worry about them!
You can interpret it however you like!
