Developer Update: Happy New Year

States that team has many things prepared for 2018
Overwatch League Skins
Beginning of Overwatch League
New Maps:
Blizzard World
Great new maps in the works
New Heroes
Hero 27 is almost ready!
States that the hero is a ton of fun to play, and they want to get it right before releasing it.
The team is already thinking beyond hero 27
Working towards improving competitive play
Looking for good short term fixes to help competitive play
Removing performance based sr for diamond and above players (viewed as short term)
Long term Change: Evolve view on competitive play overall (still being determined)
Continue story development
Mentions Winston’s recall and the heroes’ responses to that (going to be mentioned in both comics and cinematics)
Event:
Lunar New Year: Year of the Dog
Significant content that players will be very happy with
Other vague changes based on player feedback
Uprising
States that uprising should return for players who have never played it
BUT it is going to evolve
The development team has many “big ideas” that will be fun

reduced duplicates in lootboxes
Overwatch really blessed me with the black cat mercy skin, only for my next 2 legendaries to be a Venture and a Vendetta skin, aka the two characters I hate the most🥲
Gameeeee
Why are you doing this to meeeee
I am just trying to like you and not hate my life every time I play you, but you are making it really hard for me🥲🥲🥲
How many lute box
totally up to you! Since these wouldn’t be “serious” commissions I’m thinking like, colored sketch. something like this
And I’ll adjust depending on the amount of lute box
Ways Blizzard could give us more lootboxes:
Daily log in reward (could also work with credits = 1 box a day or 25 credits. Maybe credits for 6 days in a row and a lootbox or more for 7). Would reward activity and loyalty to the game!
Daily wheel of fortune spin!!!!!
During events: increased amount of lootboxes from leveling up and winning arcade games
Level checkpoints (ex. Reaching Level 10, 50, 100 gives more than 1 lootbox, like the portrait system)
At start of events providing us with 10 free lootboxes instead of 1. C'mon, this is obvious.
Add more general non-hero specific achievements with lootbox or credit rewards
Buy something from the merch shop = lootboxes reward in-game
Buy lots of things from the merch shop = more lootboxes as a thank you
Look, I get it. In-app purchases fund the creators. But blizzard has no reason to be so stingy with thier lootboxes! They run several games successfully and likely have more than enough money to pay their voice actors and employees (correct me if I’m wrong). If they keep this up, their fanbase will die out faster than most games of this kind do, and more and more people will miss out on the game due to the extreme requirement of having cash lying around every 1-2 months. I know I personally would be willing to spend more money on lootboxes if I knew the game made them easier to achieve and they weren’t so greedy with them.
Please Blizz, I mean the best with this, just give us all a helping hand. AT LEAST DURING EVENTS (additional idea: increased legendary chances, repeats made impossible, or increased chance of event loot in lootboxes during event times).
