Painted some nasturtiums on my uke, since they were in such gorgeous abundant bloom around my house and it’s what reminds me of the sun right now

Started up a new painted instrument a few days ago. This is as far as I've gotten. It's a commissioned grad present for my friend's sister who has just gotten her degree in violin performance. I'll keep y'all updated on the progress, because I REALLY like where this is going. Right now I'm just free handing it. No planning or whatever. But I'mma have to plan out the back, because that's gonna be some intricate mandala shit.
And here is the first painted instrument I did: a violin that I did for my friend who is basically plays both the violin and the piano. No commission for this one, though. It was just a gift. In case you were wondering, yes, it is still playable. Its tone is just a little weird.
ATTENTION MUSICIANS... Serious question, we are always oggling over painted violins on tumblr/pinterest/insta...
But we are unsure about how the paint would affect the resonance and overall tonal qualities of the instrument. Do any of you have a painted instrument? Why/why not? Have you noticed a change in sound?
