"Not romantic, not platonic, but a secret third thing."
Ok, so this might be controversial, but as love interests go, I actually like Lyla more than either Finn or Cassidy for Sean. I love her & their dynamic so much, and I still desperately wish we’d gotten to see Lyla develop more as a character, she has a criminally low amount of screen-time, in my opinion.
Sean and Lyla had such a beautiful friendship. It was so heartwarming and amazing to see how much they genuinely cared for and loved each other and that they never stopped thinking about each other while apart. Also yeah, Lyla deserving more screentime is the hill I'll die on. If they can bring back Steph, they can bring back Lyla in a future game! I'm holding SE to that!
Still, I always saw Sean and Lyla as strictly platonic. They have this very witty, sarcastic banter between them (Lyla literally calls Sean a bitch in her first minute onscreen) and I feel like their bond is more "ride or die homies" than romantic. Also in episode 5 if you called Lyla both times and check her Facebook, Lyla writes "Be seeing you soon brother" and Sean thinks "I miss you too sis," so I always interpreted them as friends who think of each other as brother and sister. I think that their bond as an opposite-sex friendship is actually even more meaningful that way, especially in that Lyla was willing to wait fifteen years to be reunited with her best friend again in the Redemption ending.
I miss you, Lyla.
