Omg I talk about the World Eaters again? Yes I do!! The scene in dropsite massacre (first page of chapter 3) is legitimately the best description of a partial seizure I’ve read lol. For me at least. Everyone has different experiences w/ partial seizures so that’s important to mention lol. But yes Kharn is rapidly climbing the ranks as a Traitor I Enjoy Reading about. my body gets all hot and numb (feels like icy hot running through my blood) and my heart starts racing and then I get intense deja vu feelings and hallucinate. :(

I’ve had epilepsy for 7 years and my parents are still in denial. I have partial seizures every day but my last grand mal (convulsive) seizure was 2 years ago. Both my parents and my friends think I’m lazy for not driving, but I am a danger to the road.

I wish they understood how much it kills me not to have independence and to be held back by an illness I can’t control.

This is a selfie of me on a bus to Safeway, to drop off prescription refills, after or still during temporal lobe epileptic simple partial seizures, I can no longer tell if it's ictal or postictal, but here is photographic evidence of an epileptic in the wild. I feel fuzzy and disproportionate and I don't want strangers to see so I am going to do the thing I've done for thirty years and breathe a lot and hide myself and maybe I also won't have an autistic shutdown in public, but I'm very good at hiding those too. I'm good at hiding from you. I used to be, anyway. Brought to you by being born with ischemic hypoxic encephalopathy which caused periventricular leukomalacia which caused cerebral palsy and temporal lobe epilepsy and led to fibromyalgia and other fun things which is why I write characters with neurodivergent brains. So far the TMNT fandom seems okay with my headcanons of neurodivergent psychic Michelangelo, because I put a lot of emotional stuff into my AU fics. He has been my muse for thirty years after all.

Partial Seizures and Dementia

(Not so) fun fact; it turns out that if partial seizures go untreated, they can affect the patient in an almost identical way as dementia. For this reason, it's common for seniors to get misdiagnosed for dementia, when in reality, it turns out they were just have seizures that went unnoticed. Yes, it's awful that they're having seizures, but bright side, if treated correctly, they can return to their old normal selves!

So I got diagnosed with epilepsy last week. and man. since getting put on the anticonvulsant and feeling like me again, I have better self control and discipline than I have in years. I mean, I was dealing with partial seizures for about three years before they put me on the medicine last week, but I didn’t realize how much of my ability to function was being affected. I cleaned my room tonight. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but last week I literally was too daunted by the task to do it. It was too much to handle emotionally. Tonight, it took a little longer than I wanted, but I got it done and my room is cleaner than it’s been in probably seven months. I remembered how to actually speak up for myself and not get steamrolled. I put my stress at a manageable level for the first time really since starting grad school. My only regret is that I didn’t get the testing done and the diagnosis sooner so that people didn’t think that the wreck I had become was the sort of person I am to work with. That’s not. This is. And now that I’ve got my medication on my side and I’m not questioning what’s happening to me anymore, things can only continue to improve.
