Paul Dempsey is an Australian music artist who is best known for being in the band Something for Kate as well as having a solo career. Dempsey was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia; both his parents were Irish immigrants. His father died in a car accident when Dempsey was aged 1 and he was raised by his mother and grandmother. His grandmother taught him how to play the piano and he started playing the guitar when he was 8 and then taught himself the drums. Dempsey appeared on RockWiz numerous times as a panelist as well as performing. Dempsey is married to Something For Kate’s musician, Stephanie Ashworth in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005 and they have one child. Dempsey has openly spoken about depression, ‘I think a lot of people who suffer from depression feel guilty. They feel like being selfish, they feel like they shouldn't talk about it because they sound like they are whining. I think it is important to not be like that and talk about it so that people think that it is OK to talk about it.’
