Most peat moss (And sphagnum moss) sold in the US is strip mined from peat bogs in Canada. First, the bog is drained, then vegetation is removed. Then the peat is harvested, dried, packaged and shipped.
The process destroys the bog ecosystem and releases Co2 into the atmosphere. Don't buy peat products or products containing peat. Use compost or coco coir.
No houseplant is worth the death of entire ecosystems.
Got up at 4 am to see the sunrise at the bog, absolutely worth it, it was gorgeous and there was absolutely no one else around. (except for the birds)
Look at that wild orchid!! The bog laurel, the eastern ninebark and eastern solomons plume!!! They're all so lovely.
YOU BETTER PUT RESPECT ON MY BELOVED PEAT BOG'S NAME
"Using peat moss as a wrap isnt vegan because its using up a non renewable resource from peat bogs"
"Well its better then eating meat"
NO ITS NOT!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE DESTROYING AN ENDAGERED ECOSYSTEM FOR A 1FT BY 1FT WRAP FILLED WITH SHIT THAT YOURE NOT EVEN GOING TO FINISH EATING. YOURE DESTROYING AN ECOSYSTEM WHILE TRYING TO SAY YOURE BETTER THAN OTHER PEOPLE. USE A REGULAR FUCKING TORTILLA, ITS JUST FLOUR AND WATER AND SOME SALT, YOU CAN MAKE THAT YOURSELF I DO IT ALL THE TIME
YOU CANT CLAIM TO BE VEGAN AND CLAIM TO CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT WHEN YOURE ACTIVELY DESTROYING THE MAIN NONRENEWABLE RESOURCE OF AN ENDANGERED ECOSYSTEM
The Peatles be like lucy in the bog with moss
A Reminiscence on the Field at Culloden
A golden eagle feasts from the fallen fawn Whose tartan spots have not faded With the cooling of summer’s heat
April sleet penetrates peat Musket ball seedlings Ripened in fleeting sun For August’s heather bloom
Seas of violet and skies a smoky shade Targe of memory, splintered but glinting
Glens soon emptied of song Replaced by the clatter Of the wool shearer’s clippers
Treading the bog, stony cairns Line the path Family names etched, for tourists
Scrapbooking Those who took their last breath here
In the hopes It might draw out Their sigh a... little...longer
The initial inspiration behind this is incredibly specific, basically I was recently in Norway and one of the places I saw, Geiranger, was full of houses with roofs covered in peat, it's a technique that was used all over Northern Europe to ensure the thermal insulation, and it makes me wonder how it would look if it covered someone, so here's a little troll!🏡

•Peat Moss•
The oldest of the mudwing sisters.
Given her size and muscle power she is put to the role of bigwings.
Most think she's serious and cold hearted for how quiet she often is.
Actually she's just rather shy and keeps to her more extroverted youngest sibling Sunflower's side who helps her express herself.
They often go gathering for additional food together.
Her favorite colors are yellow and gold.
