it's wild how quickly and easily people will pedojacket you for defending childrens rights. I've been called a pedophile for saying 'i treat sixteen year olds like adults.' I heard a podcast recently where the host got looks for saying 'i was playing in the pool with some kids' as if thats not an imminently normal place for both adults and kids to be.

it's also worth noting that this is intentional. the constant accusations of pedophilia and grooming are built specifically to prevent adults (and especially queer or marginalized adults) forming solidarity with kids, or from treating like anything other than things to be avoided.

-she is corrected 50+ times that it is a t-dick and not pedophilic

-she triples down on all porn depicting anyone with micropenises is pedophilic. she calls everyone correcting her racist (she is black) or a pedophile. she continues to harass people correcting her and calling them pedophiles (and still is!).

so apparently having sex as someone with a micropenis or as someone with a micropenis is ‘pedophilic’ yeah. not. intersexist at all pal …. (bonus: she then claims having sex with people who have dwarfism is also pedophilic because they ‘look like kids’ what the fuck is she on)

The term "pedophile" has been so mercilessly beaten to death that it's becoming another chronically online allegation to scroll past and ignore. I remember a time in which it was primarily used for actual child predators with victims. That meaning still wasn't correct, but at least we had some kind of consensus on the meaning. Now, people sling pedo allegations on people in their early to mid 20s dating anyone under 21 or on people who draw suggestive artwork of fictional characters or on people who write ship dynamics that the accuser personally dislikes.

It has gotten to the point that I scroll past any "pedo" accusations I see online because more often than not, they don't actually mean "an adult who sexually victimizes children." It's far more likely that they mean "This person is 22 dating an 18 year old" or "This person drew cartoons I don't like" or "This person wrote a story that portrays CSA without glorifying it, but I'm media-illiterate and think any portrayal is glorification and that's the author's fault" or, also entirely too common, "This person consensually practices kink with other adults and I don't like it."

When you become The Boy Who Cried Pedo, people start ignoring actual cases of sexual predation on children because you throw the word onto anybody and everybody you personally dislike.

I understand that the subject matter may seem inseparable sometimes, that's why it's so extremely important not to make light of such serious language like anything Big Three related when someone is referring an archetype of fictional character.

It creates burnout in the person reading that eventually becomes an outright dismissal of any and all abuse accusations with "Ugh, they're just complaining about Onimai or Madoka or whatever."

It won't matter if there are real victims vouching for your post, or even if it was posted by one-such survivor, after the reader finds that the likelihood that they'll stop reading and stop caring gets a little higher. Apathy then grows overall.

THIS is why equating fiction with reality is damaging to victims, especially when done so often and so brazenly: because victims are NOT fictional characters.

Victims are not narrative constructs created in someone else's imagination for the sole purpose of providing entertainment.

Victims are not forever-convienent talking points with which internet strangers can gossip about each other.

Victims are not fandom discourse or drama.

Please stop treating them as such, you're causing more harm than good.
