okay this is my yap time. i originally had a much more simple dani hairstyle but i ended up making it much messier both as a way to make it more visually interesting and also bc. have you met children those braids will not stay nice for longer than 10 minutes. she also has a little star sticker on her face bc tbh if i had stickers as a kid they would go (3) place and that’s my hands, face or bedroom wall.

Peg is a mix of her Sinkiewicz and Audino designs - I’m gonna be fr I like her square glasses sm more than her circle ones. Audino is my goat tho bc trying to draw Sinkiewicz’s Peg with my art style was hell.

The round brown-purple-red disks in the bowl are meant to be chokecherry patties - i tried my best to draw them as accurately as I could!

I understand that many different nations make chokecherry pudding (or even just berry pudding! iirc depends on what’s available), but when i was looking into some cultural dishes for her i found the FNDI, who said Northern Cheyenne people often make chokecherry instead of just berry pudding (which is what inspired me to make this).

Chokecherry pudding is also called Wozapi/Wojapi! (Thanks to my oomfs for telling me that lol)

anyway i spent like over 12 hours on this so pls 🙏🏽🙏🏽 i would appreciate any kind of thoughts

I need to read New Mutants: Demon Bear Saga in order to write some Dani angst about her relationship with her parents and how the entire family deals with Peg and William being gone for years

On the other hand this is the Demon Bear Saga and I have not heard good things about it

So upon the Demon Bear being cleaved in half by Illyana’s magic sword, not only is the threat ended but also out pops Dani’s parents fully alive. With the power dispensed though, we learn that the cop and nurse from before do not return to their previous form but instead have actually been permanently race changed... yeah... anyway we also learn that Dani is paralyzed, but you know, comics... so...
