Poppy sat, fidgeting anxiously with the gift tag on the present she had gotten for Faye. She was happy of course that the two of them were at least talking again, but part of her was scared she would only mess things up between the two of them and things would never get better. Another part knew that she hadn’t done enough to even deserve any of this, but yet Faye had agreed to try and be friends again. Then there was the third part, the one she tried pushing forward as she waited for Faye to show up to the spot they had agreed to meet. Hope. Even if they could never get to where they had been before, just being able to be good friends with Faye again was enough of a good thought that Poppy wanted to try hard even for that.

As Poppy heard footsteps nearing, her hand fell from the gift tag to her side, not wanting to seem too nervous. As her gaze landed on the other, she felt breathless at first, as if her lungs had just stopped. However, her lips turned up into a smile almost immediately. It was small, but it was genuine, not forced. Poppy was sure there had never been a time when it was just the two of them where she had to force any kind of smile. Even now, she was genuinely happy to see her, to be around her. “Hey,” she greeted, trying to get over the breathless feeling and sound more confident as she stood from where she had been seated. “Thanks for meeting with me, especially today." She began, her smile growing a little, but being soft. "How are you?” The two hadn’t spent nearly as much time together as they had when they were together. In fact, they hadn't spent any real time together other than talking. It felt like Poppy hadn’t seen Faye in forever.
