Delve V0.95 Now up!

So I've noticed I don't come up anywhere in itch.io's search engine. Like, AT ALL. Weird. Anyway...

Patch notes for v0.95:

-Slightly increased boss health.

-Boss can now be affected by Glue Pots, effect will last until the Boss takes damage.

-Changed the spread of monsters across floors 1-4 and 6-9 to provide less challenge on floor 1 but great challenge from floor 6 and down.

-Added a new dungeon floor to make an even 10.

-Floor 5 has a set layout and some story elements, like Floor 0.

-New music on Floor 5-9.

-Reworked some dialogue and item descriptions for better formatting.

We're back in the crossover Danny Phantom x Batman universe, but this time it's a completely different story focusing on Jazz (but Jason's here too. I love him too much to not at least give him a cameo ❤️)

So I made a thing...

Here's a first look at Delve: Tapitha's Adventure, built entirely in PICO-8. There was a lot of tutorials along the way (Thanks to Lazy Devs Academy, Gruber, and Juniper Dev) and I had to learn just... WAY too much about music to get the somewhat passable results I have (with many thanks to Raymond Scott and Julius Fučík), but it's mine and I'm proud of it so far.

Okay everyone, change of program: I'm taking a month off.

This is for a number of reasons. Firstly, a writing prompt daily for four years has run me out of ideas. Secondly, I've been bitten by the writing bug and am writing an ACTUAL story, and I can't do both prompts and prose without them informing each other and making both worse.

Thirdly, college.

And fourthly, it is the spooky times. Welcome to October.

So, in the spirit (ha ha) of the season, I'm running back my project from two years ago: Ghostbusters Port Huron.

As a basic primer of the premise: years ago I ran a homegrown tabletop campaign in the Ghostbusters universe, but set in my own hometown. Two years ago, I took my notes, unused ideas, and what I remembered from the sessions we had and put it all together into a story, framed mostly as some after-action reports by the player characters (employees). The history and landmarks are all real, with some minor embellishments for dramatic effect.

A chapter a day for the month of October, posting at 10am CST. Yes, this is the same story posted to my AO3 page, so no surprises, but it'll keep your dashboards full for a bit.

I need to put my head down and take some tests and write my little heart out. Thanks for understanding!

Delve V0.99 now up! Throwing Update!

New stuff in v0.99: -Throwing update! -Pressing (O) [Z on a keyboard] will auto select the top throwable item from your inventory and take you straight into the throwing interface. -Talismans that increase the player's View range will now also increase the range of thrown items by the same amount. -There are new throwable items! Darts and Javelins have been added and can be found in pots and chests. -You can now throw items through gates and over chests and pots. -Modified the formatting of the stats window in the inventory to accommodate for big damage numbers.

At this point, the game is pretty much finished. With college courses starting up along with all my 'being a dad' duties, I'm not sure what else I could or would add at this point? Especially because I'm bumping up against the Pico-8 limitations of compressed space and token count.

Delve V0.91 Now Live!

Updates in v0.91: -Fixed a bug that crashed the game if the player got more than four items from the 'Unique' category. -Removed an issue allowing a player to acquire two of the same Unique item. -UI messages display for shorter periods of time. -Added a new Talisman -Adjusted Score calculation to prevent negative scores. -Metal Slimes renamed to Silver Slimes for no real reason.

Welcome to my tiny corner of Tumblr's nigh-infinite-as-heck-a-hedron. I do mostly short(ish) dialogue prompts, usually between two characters. I think I've been posting at least one a day for apparently 3 years now. Some of my common themes/characters are:
