Cheers to TDR

Dear Visa, Thomas, Kai-Uwe, Paul, Colin and Stevo,

This is just a thank you note for you guys for making Per Gessle’s 60th Birthday so interesting and so full of excitement by introducing the #Per60 concept. No, it is definitely not easy to go through hundreds of songs and put them together in the form of a list with so many choices - agrees and disagrees - and yet manage to make it so perfectly smooth in its own ways.

Of course, I was a prick to your choices, and I won’t promise that I won’t be a prick later in the future to your choices (hahaha) - I’m like that evil sibling who loves you no matter what, but being mean is a part of the package.

Thanks for making me want to write again in routine, for the motivation and for making an effort in also bringing so many fans together again. The enthusiasm may have calmed down a lot, but somehow we all love to talk about the past - the beautiful experiences and memories it keeps.

TDR has stayed with us in every think and thin of the Roxette times. With wit and sometimes in a serious tone, you guys have conveyed complete sense into things which may not be important for the rest of the world.

In the meantime, working on the #Per60 list, you guys came out with Per Gessle’s Roxette photobook, which was an absolute delight for our hungry eyes to experience the autumn concerts in stills and yet in a very moving way. The pictures in the book at times felt like they are showing a whole scene - perfectly captured expressions and actions; and then a major thumbs up to the compilation of those photos. I’d say it again, the photobook is beautifully engineered.

And I forgot to mention the big caption each choice in #Per60 had, with tit bits about the song, what Gessle thinks and what YOU think. Creating a tiny little thesis for every selection is how I want to put it.

So, yes, I want to thank you for all your efforts - the last 60 days were very interesting and interactive with the real TDR experience! You guys are brilliant!

Gessle Turns 60

Finally the big day is here: Per Gessle of Sweden has turned 60.

TDR and RXB have celebrated the big day but countdowns, special editions, Mono Mind Updates and lots of best wishes.

The fans; they love the man - there were wishes on his and a Roxette’s Facebook page all over. Custom made “lalalove” birthday photos to let Per know that his art style is highly appreciated all over.

The guy is an absolute inspiration. And officially announcing that Per is behind Mono Mind is an official welcome to a new tab in all the official websites. Per Gessle’s enormous contributions to music is at times highly underrated by the international musical scene because he’s “too experienced” now.

Mono Mind is the music which can attract this generation. Roxette fans are too old school for these innovative melodies - but his musical legacy will always remain a part of their heartbeats.

We know more about Per in his career - and what a brilliant career? Isn’t it? It must be hard, but his achievements are the ones which one wants to have when he/she turns 60. And when you slip a little towards his personality - it’s definitely the kind you want to have as well - smart and do whatever makes you happy!

Per Gessle is the guy who you really won’t be shy to call your ideal - because that is what has has proved to be.

So, it seems that Christmas, New Year and Per Gessle’s Birthday celebrations are over and we’re gonna get back to our regular routines!

Happy Birthday Per! 60 years of Brilliance.

Tycker om när du tar på mig.

Sooooo, 15 years later, i finally know the meaning of this song. What the hell - it’s a super romantic song - why did I not know?

Google translate translates it to “Enjoy when you touch me”.

I definitely like this song, but I suddenly like it even more, considering the intensity of romance coming out of Per is normally not very often. It’s a beautiful song.

So, deserves this #5 position.

The story of Per being a prick to everyone at AGM is fun, like a typical artist who just can’t.... “get there”. If there is ever a serious documentary like film made on Per, the making of “Tycker om när du tar på mig” should definitely be shown. I can imagine that for some reason.

4 more days left till we know which song TDR likes the most. I mean, I can’t even predict!!! Per’s institutional catalogue is big enough to make you go crazy!

So, TDR - *huuggggssss*

#Per60 - #23

“Wish you the best”.

It seems TDR has done enough justice in explaining this song in their review today. I like this song, but I don’t love it. It’s a very serious kind of a song - and I didn’t get close to it at the age of 12 when I heard it for the first time.

It gets a little spooky by the end. Something feels haunted all of a sudden. Maybe the line “this distant dream, must come to an end” makes it unreal and poofing up!

The thing which I like the most in this song are the highlighted cello music! Cello sounds sad and it depicts the sound of a broken heart like no other instrument. It fits beautifully in “wish you the best”.

Is there someone out there who you’d wish the best anyway? With a big heart?

Oh, Hi! How are you?

I’m just gonna go and drown myself in a few drops of water first, then of I come out with any lesser shame, I’ll say “hi” again!

Why am I being so dramatic?

Because I have not heard “Theme from Roberta Right” - that’s why!!!

I knew that this existed, but I never got a chance to listen to it. Why? I don’t know why!!!

Thanks TDR! Bla bla bla.... *hugs*

(Just heard it, hmmm.... is it to be #25? Or I need to give it a few more chances?)

Hi again, TDR!

So, the 2nd best thing happened today when I got online after coming home at 23:30. TDR is something I’ve started to look forward to the most now. But then, they’re making me smile more than ever tonight!

They told how freaking low “Högt I det blå” is and how more freaking low that s*** song “I didn’t mean to turn you on” is. Oh God, “I didn’t mean to turn you on” is making me nauseous again!!

Aren’t these boys the cutest? Haha!

But c’mon, should I even trust you now? “Högt I der blå” on #146!!! *sniff sniff* how can you be so heartless?

Stevo? Do something!!! I hope you’re not behind this! And if they say you are, I won’t believe them! (Haha, I know I know).

TDR Now a Days

I’m loving how interactive TDR is now a days. Be it some more news, random polls or discoveries to share with the rest of the 12.7k Roxette fans on their Facebook page.

Today, they shared the #Per60 encore, where on #63, they had Per’s song “En vacker dag”. Since I have not heard the “Small Town Talk” album, I am unable to comment fully on this song, although - I really do like the Swedish version very much. The album, “En vacker dag” started off with this song, and it gave a nice first impression of the whole album. The song also follows the tune for “walk on lonely eyes” - the first demo shared from TPGA (technically).

But well... my curiosity wants to ask where did “hört i det blå” landed and if it’s above that worse song of all time - “I didn’t mean to turn you on”.

(Oh God, just thinking of the awfulness of this song makes my head spin round, and not in a good way).

They also shared a remix of the song “Good Karma” - one of the good songs in the album of the same name. I obviously don’t like it, too much remixed material is unfortunately not for me, and no, it didn’t even make me want to dance. But I will definitely give full marks to the effort put in to make this remix.

And now I await for more encore tracks. Bring it on TDR!

#Per60 - #45

Genius gone wrong!

Hmmm, I mean, yes, it’s a very creative song, but definitely not the best song. The Lonely Boys’ version was better, because it felt more rock n roll. The demo version is a little too Demo-isch.

MP’s b’day special is a cute thing, that we all have to admit. And we also know that who is the real Idea-maker behind all these surprises.

Now I’m wondering if The Lonely Boys songs would be included in #Per60. Because technically, they are Per Gessle songs, but they are also not Per Gessle songs as well. Well, TDR knows better!

“I’m just a singer in a rock n roll band” - hmmm, is this song pure Imagination, or is it pointing towards some reference?

*hugs* for the geniuses gone right - TDR boys!

PS: Happy Birthday George Harrison - I did listen to 4 Beatles albums today, but a while back I got to know it’s your birthday! Thanks for being a Beatles!
