Nami is a CATFISH !!!!!! ( i feel funny )
Hellooo ! I quite remember you saying you like Robin design but personally I find her face really lovely before eclipse and after I find it lacking her previous mischief in her expressions.
Love your work
Byeee.
Uh. I think Robin is still mischievous. I also think she is a lot happier now than she was pre-timeskip because it took until the end of Enies Lobby for her to accept that the Straw Hats are going to protect her. Think about it. Robin has spent the majority of her life being betrayed by everyone she comes into contact with. She was in survival mode for twenty years. She attaches herself to Luffy as a means of survival, but she comes to really love her new crew. Yet in the back of her mind she thinks they're either going to betray her or abandon her when her presence becomes too burdensome for them. Because that's how she's been treated her entire life.
Robin is depressed. This isn't just me projecting onto her, I think anyone can look at her and agree that Robin is clinically depressed. And something I've learned through personal experience is one way to cope with depression is to develop a sense of humor. So Robin develops this morbid sense of humor that disturbs others to help keep the darkness at bay. And I think she would need to rely on that sense of humor a little more before Enies Lobby because in the back of her mind she assumes that her time with the Straw Hats cannot, will not last.
But then they prove her wrong. They spit in the World Government and Navy's faces and take her back because she is a proper member of the crew and they love her.
So Robin can relax. The Straw Hats all get separated fairly soon after Enies Lobby, but that's okay. She knows she'll see them again. Luffy promised. And in the meantime she finds new friends and allies in the Revolutionary Army.
I've seen people complain that Robin's personality changes post-timeskip, and maybe it does a little. But that's because she's finally happy. I think she doesn't need to rely on her dark sense of humor as much, but I do think she's still Robin. She's still curious, intelligent, and I still think she's mischievous. She still smiles like she knows something you don't. She's just happier.
The only problems I have with her post-timeskip design is how they whitewashed her in the anime, her proportions got a little more exaggerated, and the way Oda draws her hairline is strange.
But yeah. Post-timeskip Robin is a happier, healthier, more secure Robin who probably doesn't need humor to cope as much, and I love that for her.
Hello ^^
I was asking myself, did ya have an opinion about the new movie? And the Shanks daughter situation ?
Sorry to bother ya ^^
Aww, it's really no bother! I like asks!
I've only officially seen one trailer for it, so I don't know much beyond Shanks has secretly had a daughter this whole time and she's an idol. But I've heard that apparently Luffy and Uta have some history?? I haven't really looked into it because I like going into movies with pretty fresh eyes, but tbh I think it would be silly if Luffy and Uta had some kind of past connection.
And the movie obviously isn't canon but people are going to treat it as canon in their fan works, so now unfortunately it looks like Shanks is going to be another deadbeat One Piece Dad. And I can't really say either way whether I think that's in character or not since we don't know a lot about Shanks as an adult. And I know some people don't want to jump to conclusions and say Shanks was a deadbeat dad, but it seems that way based on the trailer, so I'm operating on the assumption that he was a part of Uta's life and then just decided to dip when he had "better" things to do. Which is really shitty.
Gah, I have more to say, but I can feel my brain melting after the long day I've had, so I'll leave it at that. If you're willing to look in my Shanks tag you'll see more of my thoughts on the movie.
Oh, but after I see the movie I'm probably going to come up with some AU where my OC Papaya, Buggy's daughter, meets Uta lmao.
Thanks for the ask! I actually find it really touching that you wanted to know my opinion. 💜
