in four days I see @peskyredhead! Which will mean I have seen her FIVE times this year.

peskyredhead replied to your post: So American Airlines just refunded only $294 of a...
FREAKING AMERICAN AIRLINES
I KNOW RIGHT.
I think the most frustrating thing is if I’d chosen any other airline I would have been able to get to you. But I chose American cuz it was cheapest and had the flights that lined up with when I wanted to leave ABQ.
I mean I know American Airlines can’t control the weather and it’s not their fault, but the least they can do is refund me the full ticket cost.
Today’s Plan:
Get all the things I need for my Cap halloween costume
Go grocery shopping
Stare listlessly in the distance wishing I was with @peskyredhead
Go to work and grab my work laptop so I can do some work work this weekend
maybe pack some boxes
Wish my fiance was here
Hate when things don’t go according to plan
Stress about things I can’t control
So this week has been really truly crappy. It started with my iPad breaking and then there was this whole law issue that I discovered I needed to get a lawyer for. But all week I was looking forward to the fact that I was going to visit @peskyredhead this weekend in her natural environment.
Then because of all the rain in Texas, my flights were delayed into oblivion and now I’m not going to visit her, I’m stuck in Albuquerque.
While my fiance, mind you, is in Texas getting rained on for the Formula 1 race.
So you can imagine I’m not very happy.
And then my fiance and @peskyredhead revealed that I will get to see her soon, because my fiance arranged for her to fly down here two weeks from now as a surprise for me.
And he is just the best, and I love them both and I wish they were here so I could hug them.
So it’s still a bad weekend, but a bad weekend alleviated with the knowledge that I am loved.
Made my hotel reservations at the Westin for next year’s DragonCon.
Kinda ticked that they gave us a very specific number at the event yesterday and then today when I called that number they were like “actually you need to call this number.”
Ugh.
But thirty minutes of busy signals, being on hold, and talking to a guy later I actually have a reservation. So I can rest easy.
Dumpster Bros!
I can't go this year, but I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to go to Dragoncon next year. I looks so awwesome *giant googly heart eyes*
It is awesome! If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it. Last year was my first time, and it was my first big con every, and I had so much fun. I got to spend tons of fandom fun time with catsonroombasalsosharks and @enigma731. And I got to meet the-feels-assassin and peskyredhead in real life and (surprise, surprise!) they were completely awesome and we bonded over pizza and Captain Marvel.
So, yes, Dragoncon is totally worthy of your heart eyes. Something for everyone fandom wise and definitely worth the effort to go. I hope you make it soon!
Invisible Woman, Silver Surfer, Doc Strange!
You had to ask me the super hard ones that require like lots of thought, didn’t you?
Invisible Woman: Talk about a process of finding your identity.
Finding my identity....that assumes it has been found. :) In terms of career I always knew what I wanted to do, from the time I was in like fifth grade on, I knew I wanted to be an engineer, that I wanted to work on space stuff. In terms of geekiness, I’ve always been an unabashed geek which is a central part of my identity. I’m a second gen geek--a geek raised by geeks--so my geekiness was never something I was ashamed of or had to hide. In terms of religion, my faith has been a part of me since I was very young and something that has never wavered. I may doubt myself at times but never God. Basically i’m the kind of person that when I decide to do something, career, faith, geekiness, whatever, I commit to it 100%. I make a decision and that’s what I’m going to do, who I’m going to be, full court press.
There’s a story my mom tells that sort of...describes this when it comes to me. Apparently when I was little I sucked my thumb constantly. (In like every picture of me under three I’m sucking my thumb). And then one day after I turned three I walked up to my parents and said, “Big girls don’t suck their thumbs, so I’m not going to do it anymore.” And from that day forward I stopped sucking my thumb cold turkey.
So basically my identity is determined stubbornness. lol
Silver Surfer: (Where?) do you want to wander?
I don’t *want* to wander; I *need* to wander. I am a nomad. Living in one place for longer than a few years makes me antsy. This comes from being 28 years old and having moved 20 times in my life (military family, combined with some other factors).
My current job helps negate my wanderlust by sending me traveling everywhere across the country all the time for work. And being a nomad it’s not so much that I need to travel to a certain place so much as I just need to travel.
My feet itch and I gotta get going.
Doctor Strange: Talk about a moment your life changed paths.
Oh goodness. Probably the most recent one is seeing The Avengers. Before The Avengers I wasn’t into comics, I wasn’t involved deeply in any fandoms. I mean I was still a geek, but not a fanfic writing, tumblr metaing geek. So yeah, The Avengers sort of set me a different path that five years ago I couldn’t have imagined.
Hope this sufficiently answered the questions.
