Oh no. He was awake!! Please, Goddess, don't let him scream, or get up and stab him, or-- "Please, do not be afraid; I-- I-I was not meaning any harm. I was not-- I was not going to be hurting of you...!" his surprisingly-quiet but desperate voice was trembling even less than his great big body, as though such a thing were even possible! (-Ingvar, for Peter?)
Pale lashes flutter open as the young man stirred. Had he fallen asleep...? He looked around himself as he lay flat on the earth, letting his fingers sink into the sun-warmed grass like roots soaking up nutrients from the soil. Yes, now he remembered. Just a quick nap, he had been walking for so long his feet were aching... When he fell asleep he could have sworn no one else was there however, so who was this?
Peter sat up, eyes wide--but more with curiosity than anything else. He had never seen someone so tall, and he had met a lot of tall people! But maybe that is just because he himself was so short. The giant’s fear tugged at Peter’s heart. For someone who looked so big and powerful to be so fearful... He could sense no hostility--nothing at all that would put the young man on edge.
“Hello,” he greeted the giant, his voice still wobbly from sleep. He simply stared up at the stranger with a warmth in his eyes that contrasted his cold, pale countenance. He gave a small chuckle; if he didn’t stop shaking so much, Peter imagined the earthworms could be shaken right up from the ground!
“I’m not going to hurt you, either.”
