kinda bringing stuff back to fandom, but the pf's whole idea of a "we'll ignore context to moderate", apart from being full of holes, also is pretty terrible for fan content because context is important there? nsfw fan content often isn't just to get people's rocks off, but an extension of being invested in the characters and their relationships? and wanting to see the intimacy? like, literally that is why i, as an ace person, enjoy nsfw fannish stuff but don't really care about "normal" porn.
Decontextualizing stuff makes the job easier on their end, but makes the results worse on ours. This isn’t anything new with platform based censorship, not in fandom and not in trauma recovery.
Decontextualizing discussions of CSA, for example, is what caused strikethrough. Decontextualizing discussions of breasts is a major contributor to this tumblr purge.
But even if you’re drawing explicit porn of, like, Madoka Magica where all the girls are 13-ish and they look it, the Madoka Magica girls aren’t real people and they cannot be fucking injured or traumatized by porn featuring their bodies because they do! not!! exist!!!!
That whole it’s fucking fictional aspect is, IMO, the most important piece of context of all, and it’s constantly being ignored in these conversations.
