Pheme, the goddess of fame, was the daughter of Gaea and Elpis. She personified not only fame but also rumors, gossip, and reputation. In Virgil's Aeneid, she is depicted as a monstrous being who spreads chaos with her relentless chatter. Inspired by this portrayal, many later artists depicted her with multiple tongues, eyes, and ears - thusly embodying the unstoppable force of public opinion. IN MY OPINION Pheme in your chart can represent a) your notoriety / the fame you attract, b) the gossip and rumors that circulated about you, c) the general public opinion surrounding you, and/or d) your ability to perceive something worth knowing.
i encourage you to look into the aspects of fama along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of fama AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede fama!
OTHER RELATED ASTEROIDS: gaea (1184), vergilius (2798), and elpis (54)!

This is the fourth Episode of our series "Keeping up with the Olympians"! A reality series where we can see what the 12 Olympians are up to in modern day!
Today we're seeing how Aphrodite's relationship(s) are going! And the various chaos and aftermath from that little altercation with Aphrodite, Ares, Hephaestus and a net. Maybe they're over it by now! ...probably not. Anyways let's see what they're up to, shall we?
Special thanks to my (luna's) lovely amazing wonderful sister for playing Pheme!
pheme is the goddess or personified spirit of rumour, report and gossip. she was also by extension the spirit of fame and good repute in a positive sense and infamy and scandal in the bad.
Hi! I am sorry this is a lengthy question or if this may have been addressed in some way already, but I was wondering if you have any advice or resources on figuring out how to worship hellenic deities that weren't widely worshipped in the past AND present (deities who seem to have very few posts online about them). I have been searching all over the internet for information on Pheme and information on how to worship her and I quickly reached a dead end which is upsetting because I feel a really deep connection to her but I'm kinda lost and don't know what to do and I am afraid of messing up without realizing it.
I am not sure how to go about giving offerings in situations like this and/or setting up an altar. I want to be cautious and try to offer what is almost universally acceptable to give as an offering but at the same time I don't want to be limited to just that (but I also don't know what wouldn't be a good offering and what could be). I also don't know whether I should try to keep in touch when I can or try to give deities space, or both.
There are so many minor goddesses that I feel a connection to as well but have no idea how to try to worship at all. I am the type of person who really needs to have directions on how to do anything and panics when I don't have any and never know what to do if that makes sense ((;^v^;)
Thank you!
I’m always drawn to lesser-known deities (literally the first deity i ever worshipper was Nemesis, and then Philotes) so I understand the struggle.
In this post I talk a bit about this — the main tips I give just being to look into her relatives to find overlap, or look into better-known deities with overlapping domains to see if anyone fits. I also say to trust UPG!
Here is Pheme’s theoi.com page if you haven’t already looked at it. There isn’t a ton on there but there are a lot of quotes from literature. I hate using Roman sources for anything but Virgil’s Aeneid does feature Rumour quite heavily and that might be a little useful?
I wish I could help more, it’s difficult to help with lesser known deities when they’re not ones I’ve really looked into. If anyone else worships Pheme/Ossa/Rumour (it’s so annoying when they have so many different names!) please add on!

“She was the personification of fame and renown, her favour being notability, her wrath being scandalous rumours. She was a daughter either of Gaia or of Elpis (Hope), was described as "she who initiates and furthers communication" and had an altar at Athens. A tremendous gossip, Pheme was said to have pried into the affairs of mortals and gods, then repeated what she learned, starting off at first with just a dull whisper, but repeating it louder each time, until everyone knew. In art, she was usually depicted with wings and a trumpet.”
