Okay, so I’ve got an issue with my Iron Lung/Project Hail Mary AU, I have most of the AU figured out except the plotlining, I want this AU to play that the Taumoeba was sent to earth and unsuccessful in its duties, as it couldn’t adjust to the Co2 in the atmosphere of Venus.
Thus killing all nearby stars slowly, and this is where the beginning of Iron Lung would be, the plot of the movie plays out with Simon instead of dying, combining with Elli. He spots a ship just outside of the moon and moves to the surface, mind you he’s been in the blood for over a week now and is extremely hungry.
The ship turns out to be one of the Eridians ships and Adrian saves Simon, they travel back eventually to Erid with the help of Simon and Adrian’s remaining crew, choosing to make Simon their pilot since he’s qualified.
They arrive in Erid and Simon is introduced to Rocky, who immediately gets excited and try to tell Simon that they have another human. (Ryland)
But the issue is, if the world were to collapse socially and Simon were to be raised in this age, Simon would be like 30 years younger than Ryland and that would mess this up completely.
So, in that case.
A.) The time on the Eridian planet moves much slower than the earth’s time, and Ryland ages only like 2-3 years while Simon completely grows up in that period.
B.) Simon’s from another galaxy with a planet similar to Earth and was raised there instead of the same earth as Ryland. (But that would make it so Ryland was actually successful which I don’t want)
C.) Simon is somehow from the fucking future, idk.
D.) Something else, feel free to suggest it in the comments.
