Gotham City Headcanons
Been in a Batman mood lately and these are just some random headcanons I’ve thought up for the city of Gotham.
Bat Burger used to have a Poison Ivy themed salad on the menu until Ivy found out about it, they now have the “Poison Ivy Meat Stack” which is 4 burger patties with bacon instead of a bun. There is no veggie option and you can’t add salad but you can have cheese.
Some civilians have become so desensitised to the ridiculous, basically daily, fights that occur in the city that they could be in a coffee shop that a fight spills into and just carry on drinking their coffee like nothing’s happened.
The ‘Isley Environmental Association” are a group of environmental activists based in Gotham, they follow Poison Ivy’s ethos but generally don’t go around killing people for stepping on grass and stuff.
Even though the bats haven’t been around forever they’ve been around long enough for some to have been born to a world that has always had them in, these kids have a hard time believing that Batman used to be considered an urban legend or that he ever worked alone.
There aren't many Gothamite cape chasers, there isn't a need to chase after their resident vigilantes because you'll probably see at least one on most nights. They’re also smart enough to realise that they'll probably get in the way of the vigilantes working. Any native cape chasers are usually kids and young teens.
People in Gotham are super diverse (like any other big city) and are generally pretty accepting of all kinds of people because let's be real, they've probably seen much weirder than a guy in a dress or a chick with blue skin. As long as you're not causing trouble, who cares?
Gotham pride is the one time a year that the bats and the rogues don’t start fights with each other, they have a truce of sorts not to start any drama and just enjoy the festivities.
The number of amateur vigilantes in Gotham is pretty low, with the Robin Movement being the only major amateur vigilante movement in the city. Some teens have tried to get into the vigilante thing but they are quickly dissuaded by the bats and even some of the more reasonable criminals like Catwoman.
