Pidlwick 1-2-3 🎭✨

(possible mild Curse of Strahd spoilers below)

I've had the idea of this image for some time in my head, ever since we found out that my puppet druid Amento is the second artificial version of the jester in the original Ravenloft court. He's been having a tough time trying to live up to his past lives, and the fact that h̸̳̜͛î̵̙̦́s̴̝̳̆̏ o̴̧̯͗̓ň̴̞l̴̙̥̓y̸̹̒̒ p̷̟̱̼̱͉̋̓̓͒̽u̷͎̎̏͑͆̀ř̴̺p̶̺̦̑̈̕o̸̘̿̃̈́͑s̵̹̥͕͕̊̃͊ȩ̵̢̻͍̥͒̂̄ is̶̢͈̱̟̾̿͝ to̶̠͋ k̵̞̥̥̀̍̕e̴͔̩͗̈͠e̴̠̬͍̜̊͊̽́̊p̵̧̛̀̽ Ir̸̟̖̳̗̦͌͒͠ȅ̴̥͂e̴͍̽̿̓͐n̶̡̧̛̹̞̤͂͠a̶̧͔̪̻̮͒̈́̈́̎͑ h̶̬̼͈͉̄̒͐̀a̴̛̝̳͔͌p̴̪͒͌p̸̛͇͕̽͗̽ỷ̸̢̖̚ is not helping. He has met both of his past versions, and both of them feel very uncanny to him, like that strange repulsion you get when hearing your own voice played back to you. 🌚

Talking about the voices, we had a part where our party heard their own voices reciting the prophecy back at them, and I love imagining how Amento thought that it sounded like the voices of his friends + Pidlwick, as it has never occurred to him that they share the same voice. ✨

Holy shit wait I just thought of a theory: Spoilers Cos ep 13 and EoM ep 30

Is Blinsky II just the combined souls of Blinsky and Pidlwick II reconstructed together in a mechanical body? Like is that why he doesn't rember who made him and why he just poped into existance in Druskenvald? Blinsky and Pidlwick died and were reborn together in a new body and continued the Blinsky legacy.

I'm absolutely stacking the Tarokka deck for this campaign and I think I've realized that Pidlwick II is the perfect ally for this group

he's unobtrusive because he can't talk

at least one of my players will immediately try to adopt him

he will do ANYTHING for them if they are nice to him

if they aren't nice to him he'll try to bully them and that's 👌

if the party (or me) forgets he's there it's easy to say he's just been stuffed in a backpack this whole time no problem

no matter how morally-dubious the party acts this freaky little dude will be absolutely on-board for it no questions asked

he's an absolute powerhouse of morbid humor potential

I also really like giving my parties an NPC that they can ask for advice if they're stuck or like, check against to make sure they're not missing anything important, but since Pidlwick II can't exactly talk it means that they can't easily lean on him to like, solve puzzles or handle interactions for them.

SOME CHANGES:

I love a creepy clown doll but unfortunately my players do not, so I'm going to make him look more like an automaton/robot and instead of being a court jester he's a stand-up comedian

The party's got to run into him waaaay earlier, I'm considering having him just be in Blinsky's shop because I need an excuse for them to meet Blinsky for my own dark and terrible plans

I'm considering letting him talk but the only things he can say are bad jokes and maybe a hollow robotic "ha ha ha".
