Charpim is a weird ass ship name for sure. Anyway how do you consider the ship a misreading? You're entitled to your opinions ofc! I would like to know why you feel that way if you feel like talking about it :)

EDIT: it's been pointed out that the person this post refers to as "OneyPlays" should be referred to as Zach Hadel.

There's a couple things about this that make me think its maybe a misreading:

I interpret Charlie as a (at-least partial) self-insert by (one of) the creators, OneyPlays Zach Hadel. I personally barely watch OneyPlays' Zach Hadel's youtube videos, but from what I gather he's a straight man, and i personally find it a little icky to mold someone's self insert's sexuality. Granted, I dont think charlie's meant to be 1:1 with OneyPlays, and I dont have direct confirmation of Oney Zach's sexuality (the most info i could find based on googling is his oneyplays wiki page stating his sexuality as "Cumulon")

2. I interpret Pim to be either aroace or at least someone on the aroace spectrum, but not a gay man. This is my personal reading, and I certainly could be mistaken, but that's how i see him.

3. I find a lot of the instances pimlie shippers bring up as examples of them romantically loving eachother to be not very convincing

for instance, in a recent episode Charlie amasses an army of [species name that i forgot] to save pim from an evil wizard, and once saved, pim runs up to charlie and hugs him.

shippers say that this is proof that they're more than friends, but like i dont see it. like if you platonically loved someone, would you not go to great lengths to save them? I just don't think that example is proof of anything other than deep platonic love.

4. this is just me but i don't personally see their personalities working together in a romantic sense. it really doesn't make sense to me.

5. I feel like a lot of characters do a lot of romantic/sexual/freaky things in the show that don't mean anything because that's kinda just the vibe of the show (i.e. alan and mr. boss in the nature episode)

6. to be honest, i was being a little inflammatory when i said it was a "severe misreading" as i don't actually care all that much who other people ship (note: if you're a proshipper or an anti-proshipper please don't read this as an endorsement or condemnation of your stance, i really cannot be bothered to get involved in that debate)

note: if i've gotten anything wrong here, or you disagree with any of my assessments, i'm certainly open to changing my mind (i'll probably not become a pimlie shipper (i dont really ship characters at all lmao) but i'll understand where you're coming from more!!)
