AU where, instead of killing Plagueis, Sidious also gets drunk and they fuck and then the next morning when they wake up together, Sidious decides maybe he doesnt want to kill Plagueis anymore, and Plagueis decides maybe Sidious is done with his apprenticeship, thereby converting the Rule of Two from one where the Apprentice murders the Master to, now that theyve managed to fuck, just being equals as the Sole Sith Lords of the Bane Line, and because Sheev totally just got successfully elected as Supreme Chancellor, they plot the downfall of both the Jedi and the Republic together, and maybe they inadvertently adopt Dooku and Anakin (and maybe even Obi-Wan and Ahsoka too), and maybe some of Hego's research results in them returning to their younger, hotter, stronger bodies, and they complete the Revenge of the Sith together as invincible, immortal co-emperors

The context: this is hours after the assassination attempt on Hego at the Canted Circle, approx 30 years before Order 66. Sheev is Naboo's Senator, Hego is doing his usual business with Damask Holdings, and everything up until the assassination is canon compliant.

After that, it's more... canon complicit, perhaps? Sheev is a touch more unhinged, in that he's currently pacing his apartments reliving the entire event.

Shaking his head clear, Sidious forced himself into the present. His limbs ached dully, and he tasked himself with alleviating the pain as he paced. First one focuses on the breath, then upon the Force, and finally upon the physical form…

As they had approached the Fobosi District, Sidious became aware of the pain Plagueis felt.

A deep-rooted fire in his lower jaw where it had been removed from his skull; a barrel tightening around his chest as the first of his hearts failed; the pulsing of his veins when his remaining hearts attempted to circulate enough blood to keep him conscious…

Pestage had hardly parked the speeder before Sidious was leaping from the backseat, unbuttoning his many layers as he ran to free his arms for the upcoming fight. If he could just get to the initiation chamber fast enough, Plagueis would survive.

His shins connected with the caf table he had been gifted by some Senator or another. Without a second thought, Sidious held out a hand to pick it up with the Force before slamming it into the wall hard enough to splinter the antique wood. Moving only from elbow to wrist, he wrenched the table across the room to the opposite wall, already feeling vindicated as the splinters deepend to cracks. He whipped it back to the first wall, relishing in the solid crunch it made when it split down the center.

Sidious allowed his Force hold on the table to slacken, and it crashed to the floor as no more than a pile of rubbish. He’d have to pay for a replacement, Force forbid he host another evening without the karking thing in his seating area. But now he was able to focus again, and the Force flowed through his veins until he turned back to pacing.

His Master had been on his knees in the center of the damned circle, barely able to keep his Force shield together as the Maladians attacked in wave after wave. Pestage was right behind Sidious, shooting over his head before either of them had fully entered the chamber. Sidious felt a lurch in the Force when the second of Plagueis’s three hearts failed. The circle was sticky with dark blood, both Muun and Maladian.

Then Sidious had raced to his Master’s side, grasping him by the hip to stand beside him.

As the Maladians fell dead around them, Plagueis had collapsed in Sidious’s arms, one hand rising to his severed jaw to staunch the flow of blood with the Force. Even with the help of the Force, blood bubbled out of the gaping hole in his throat to trail down his neck and onto Sidious’s sleeves. There was a gurgle of pain from Plagueis as Sidious lowered him to the floor, but when the movement stopped, Plagueis had lifted his free hand to gently, so gently, cup Sidious’s cheek.

His usually cold hand had been hot against Sidious’s face. Sidious had leaned into the touch, nearly disgracing himself by moaning softly. Plagueis had looked into his eyes, met him as an equal there on the floor of the Canted Circle, and Sidious could do no more than hold him as the blood drained from his body.
