A new article in the Scots Magazine (July 9, 2026), with some new-ish points of talk that raise more questions, and not exactly in the best possible way. These questions are not about Madam Mao, but about his business plans and will be further developed in a separate post, if I find the energy to write it. I am almost ashamed to bring something new, to a dashboard dominated by antediluvian pics and irrelevant factoids, but this is the current state of play. And it is disheartening.

Hopefully this isn't necessary at all, but I've been seeing some rumors about tumblr possibly not being around forever, and started to panic think about what this would mean for the future of the European Fic Writers' Retreat. (I honestly shudder to think what it would mean for fandom in general...)
There have been quite a lot of people who have replied in the notes of the Retreat announcement that although they can't make it this year, they would love to come another time. But how will I be able to reach you if tumblr is no longer around by then?
Again, I desperately hope this will never be necessary, but just in case: feel free to fill in this form in order to share your contact details with me, so I can approach you via email next year! (Just choose the "next year" option at the end.)

I really hope to start a new tradition that will continue many years. :) (Just like the original Canadian retreat that has been going since 2016 already!)

So one thing I've never done super concretely is to set knitting goals for a year, but I want to try for 2026 and see how it goes. I don't have it all figured out yet (and would welcome some fresh ideas!). Hopefully I remember to come back to this post once in a while with updates!
January
After I finish my Sophie hood I want to cast on my next sweater, which will be Asterie. I bought the pattern *last* February and finally got yarn in November, so it's high time.
February
I want to finish Asterie in February and then I need to do some stash busting. I might crank out some hats for the shelter if I don't think of anything else.
March
Last fall I bought some cotton-linen blend yarn and I'm hoping to knit it into a swingy tee in time for my birthday at the end of the month (open to pattern suggestions btw)
April-September
No firm plans or even particularly solid ideas, but I have some UFOs I could try to actually finish during these months. I have some wool-silk blend that I was hoping to knit into a tank. I should also plan ahead for holiday knitting.
October-November
As of now I'm kinda hoping I can knit my dad a sweater for his birthday at the end of November. I'll need to do some preplanning.
December
It feels wild to be thinking about December 2026 when it's still barely January. I'll do some holiday knitting and I also want to knit something for my nephew's birthday (he'll be turning 1 in January 2027).
this will be a post work endeavor but since everything is accessible now … like this post if you want me to approach you first ( IMs or inbox, you can specify!) and i’ll sort something out 👁️
