For starters, plantain was a difficult word to translate to Spanish, plantain means “plátano” which is the yellow or the green banana, but the banana did not exist yet in England when Shakespeare was around. Long story short: finally there is a name for that plant in Spanish, is called “llantén”. So imagine me reading the play from which plenty of Spanish translations either keep saying “hoja de plátano” and confuse its readers saying the cure from a banana leaf instead of the real one “hoja de llantén”. Only one book I did find the real word for it.
