✦ ݁ ˖ synopsis ˖ ݁ ✦
remember when you were eleven and he was thirteen and the rain made everything feel like forever? you fell first, quietly, the way kids do. he fell later, harder, when you were eighteen and the world had already started pulling you in different directions. he never said it. he just kept showing up, kept teasing, kept stealing your hoodies like they could keep you close even when you were oceans apart. now the rain is still falling in seoul, 2026. you live together because life got too heavy to carry alone. he still looks at you like you’re the same girl who made his trainee nights bearable. you still pretend his glances don’t make your chest tight. but every time he drapes an arm over the couch back, every time he hums “these arms were made for holding you,” the years between eleven and twenty-four collapse. you’re not kids anymore. and the love that started so young is finally old enough to speak, old enough to hurt, old enough to heal.

hi angels ♡ i was cleaning my playlists and suddenly 18 came on and it just… did something to my brain. like that very specific feeling of growing up with someone and realizing way too late that you never actually grew out of them. this is the story i’ve been selfishly writing for myself. there’s no third-act breakup, no dramatic scandal that tears them apart. just two people who love each other so much they’re terrified of saying it out loud, until the silence starts to hurt more than the risk.
also. small confession. change my mind has been sitting in my head and now i’m spiraling a little, because that song is dangerous in the “late night, staring at the ceiling, maybe i should write another fic” way. so if i disappear for a bit… that’s why. i’m debating who deserves a change my mind era. txt? bts? enhypen?

✦ ݁ ˖ prologue ˖ ݁ ✦
The apartment wrapped itself in evening stillness at 6:47 p.m., the faint whir of the air conditioning mingling with the muffled sounds of traffic drifting up from the street below. You positioned yourself in the kitchen, your bare feet planted firmly on the chilled tile floor as you stirred the black tea leaves in your favorite mug, the spoon clinking rhythmically against the ceramic sides with each careful turn. The small chip on the rim caught under your thumb repeatedly, a familiar roughness that tugged your thoughts back to that night when laughter had erupted from you in uncontrollable waves at one of his old trainee anecdotes, causing the mug to slip from your fingers and crack against the counter. Steam rose in slow, twisting spirals that danced in the air, filling the space with a sharp, grounding aroma that eased the tightness in your shoulders as you inhaled deeply, your eyelids fluttering closed for a brief moment while your mind wandered through the day's remnants despite your attempts to anchor it in the present.
You had been anticipating his return without fully acknowledging the sensation to yourself, your body leaning subtly toward the door as if pulled by an invisible force that you refused to name. The couch remained empty in the living room, save for the blanket he often claimed as his own, which you had folded with careful precision on the armrest earlier, your fingers lingering to smooth out the creases one last time. Your phone vibrated on the counter, the screen illuminating with a gentle glow that cast fleeting shadows across the granite surface as you reached for it with a slow, deliberate motion, your heart already anticipating the name that would appear.
Your phone vibrated on the counter, the screen illuminating with a gentle glow that cast fleeting shadows across the granite surface as you reached for it with a slow, deliberate motion, your heart already anticipating the name that would appear.
You picked it up carefully, your fingers curling around the cool edges while you read the message twice, your breath catching in a subtle hitch before you steadied it with a deliberate exhale through your nose. Yeonjun's name sat at the top of the screen in bold letters, followed by his words displayed in a simple white bubble against the dark background, the little typing indicator already pulsing beside his profile picture a blurry selca from months ago, his tongue sticking out, eyes crinkled in that signature dramatic mischief.

stuck in traffic bc of the rain 😩🌧️
manager hyung is losing his mind over formation again fr
save me a corner of the couch i’m literally dead rn ㅠㅠ
A quiet exhale escaped you, lips curving into a small smile as you tapped the screen, thumb pausing, typing and deleting twice before committing, deliberate presses echoing softly in the still kitchen. You could picture him perfectly slumped in the back seat, hood pulled over his head, one AirPod in, lips slightly pouted against the window as the manager ranted beside him.
you 19:16
couch is claimed. sorry, not sorry.
blanket too.
you’ll have to fight me for it, and you know i fight dirty 💅
The three dots appeared almost immediately, pulsing in the chat window as you watched them, your heart giving that familiar, unwelcome stutter which you dismissed internally as the result of too much caffeine or the lingering fatigue from your shift. The dots disappeared once, then reappeared, lingering longer this time before his reply came through in quick succession, his messages stacking up the way they always did when he was bored and dramatic.
yeonjun 19:18
cruel woman.
i like it a little too much 😏
be home in 20. don’t move or i’ll cry real tears.
also bring snacks. i’m starving pls.
i love u for this 🥺❤️
You read the last line twice, breath catching sharply. He always threw “love u” around casually, but tonight it landed like a stone in your chest, heavy, reverberating. You set the phone down carefully, letting the screen fade to black, wrapping both hands around the mug, lukewarm now but comforting.
On soft steps across the hardwood, you carried it to the living room, sliding into the far corner of the couch. Pulling the blanket over your legs released a faint trace of his cologne, a memory of him that always made your chest ease. Your fingers twisted the gold ring on your right hand, an heirloom warming against your skin as you rubbed it absentmindedly, mind drifting through memories that surfaced unbidden.
Eleven years old, the playground behind the old apartment drenched in rain that fell in sheets, pounding the ground like tiny drums. Everyone had scattered, shouts and splashes filling the air, but he had stayed. Yeonjun at thirteen, lanky arms awkwardly lifting a red umbrella over your head while his own shirt and hair soaked, water running in rivulets down his shoulders. He grinned down at you, lips curved in a way that tried to be stern but failed, eyes sparkling with the chaos of the storm around him, and said with mock solemnity, “you’re gonna melt if you get wet.”
Your small hands clutched the edge of his sleeve, fingers cold and trembling slightly, cheeks flushed from the rain and the weird warmth in your chest that made your stomach twist. You wanted to tell him how everything felt smaller with him there, how the storm seemed less frightening, but the words knotted inside you. Instead, you nudged his arm with a shy smile, tiny teeth catching your lip, as though the vulnerability could be played off with a small, playful gesture.
He never said the words, but he walked you home anyway, his long strides matching yours despite puddles soaking his sneakers. Weeks later, as you waved from the car window back to the UK, the same ache twisted in your chest. His trainee days came next, sporadic messages arriving in the quiet of the night, exhaustion masked behind teasing emojis. Then eighteen came, and he was twenty-one, eyes shadowed but warm as ever when you met in a café near the company building. His hug was too long, firm, anchoring you both to the moment, and his whisper against your ear, “don’t disappear again,” made the pull in your chest twist tighter.
Now at twenty-four, with him at twenty-six, you share this space as if it were the natural progression of those unspoken moments, your daily routines intertwining in ways that feel both comforting and charged. The arrangement stemmed from sasaeng intrusions that rattled his dorm life, his late-night calls laced with frustration until you proposed the spare room in your apartment as a refuge, your voice steady on the line as you listened to his weary sighs. Your own exhaustion from shifts compounded it, leaving you reluctant to face empty evenings alone, your thoughts replaying patient sessions as you stared at solitary meals on the table. Practicality became the excuse you both clung to, simpler than confessing how his presence quiets the noise in your head or how knowing he’s nearby lets you exhale fully for the first time in days, your shoulders relaxing at the sound of his key in the lock.
The front door unlocks at 19:41, the sound echoing through the hallway with a soft click that makes your pulse quicken slightly as you straighten your posture on the couch. He enters without his usual flair, no exaggerated sigh or scattered shoes marking his arrival, only the gentle drop of his bag on the floor and the rustle of his damp jacket as he hangs it on the hook, water droplets pattering lightly onto the mat below like a faint echo. His footsteps pad toward the living room, measured and unhurried, his socks muffling the noise on the hardwood as he approaches with a subtle shift in the air.
He appears in the doorway, hoodie zipped halfway up his chest to ward off the chill, hair clinging to his forehead from the moisture outside that glistens under the room's light, his eyes seeking yours with immediate focus as he crosses the threshold into the space.
“hey,” he said, low, stripped of his public energy. shoulders slumped, he padded toward the couch.
“you’re soaked,” your words carrying a blend of care and light teasing as you shift the blanket to make space beside you on the cushion.
“rain’s a bitch,” he replies with a faint grimace that tugs at the corner of his mouth, lowering himself onto the couch next to you with a soft sigh, his body heat radiating through the fabric as his knee nudges yours under the blanket, the contact brief but deliberate in its linger as he adjusts his position.
You hold your position without shifting, your leg remaining pressed against his as the blanket settles over you both with a gentle rustle, and he registers the choice with a subtle glance that lingers on the point of contact before lifting back to your face, but he refrains from remarking on it aloud.
He extends his hand instead, grasping the edge of the blanket from your lap and drawing it across you both with a slow pull, his cold fingers grazing your thigh for a fleeting half-second in what seems like an unintentional brush that sends a faint warmth through your skin.
“cold?” you asked softly as you watch his fingers retreat from the fabric, noting the way they flex slightly against the material before resting.
“nah,” he murmured, reclining against the cushion with a deep exhale, his head tilting back and eyes drifting half-closed as he lets the tension ease from his frame bit by bit. “just… wanted in on the vibe.”, his tone carrying a hint of warmth beneath the fatigue as he stretches his legs out further, his body relaxing into the shared space with a subtle lean toward you.
The silence envelops you both once more, comfortable yet charged with unspoken layers that hang in the air, your breaths syncing gradually as the city's distant hum filters through the walls like a quiet underscore.
He shifts his head toward you after a moment, his eyes opening to meet yours in a lingering gaze that catches you mid-thought, his expression softening with curiosity as he holds the connection.
he turned to you, eyes soft, curious. “what,” he murmurs softly, his voice barely above a whisper that carries across the short distance between you, his lips barely moving as he waits for your response.
You swallow the sudden dryness in your throat before replying nothing, your words quick but your mind racing with the weight of his proximity and the way his presence fills the room.
His lips part in a small curve, the smile tired yet genuinely fond as it reaches his eyes, and he holds your gaze a moment longer before speaking again.
“liar,” he counters gently, his tone playful without any real pressure behind it, his hand resting idle on the blanket as he drums his fingers lightly on the fabric while waiting, but he refrains from probing further and allows the quiet to return with a soft sigh.
He extends his arm toward the table after a beat, his body leaning forward slightly as he grasps your mug, lifting it to his lips for a sip despite his known distaste for black tea, his nose wrinkling at the first taste as he savors it briefly.
“still gross,” he mutters under his breath after swallowing, setting the mug back with a soft clink on the table, his face scrunching in exaggerated dislike as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand in a casual swipe.
“then don’t drink it,” your voice laced with sarcasm as you watch his reaction closely, your own lips twitching in amusement at his expression.
“too late,” he responds with a shrug of his shoulders, his eyes meeting yours again as he leans back once more into the cushions. “it’s mine now.” his tone carrying that familiar dramatic flair as he stretches his arm along the back of the couch.
You roll your eyes in response, the gesture habitual yet affectionate as it draws a quiet chuckle from him, but you make no move to reclaim the mug, your body remaining nestled under the shared blanket with a relaxed sigh.
He places the mug down carefully on the table, his movements deliberate and unhurried as he allows his arm to drape along the back of the couch, his fingers brushing the ends of your hair in a light, almost absent touch that sends a subtle warmth through you from the contact.
Neither of you shifts position after that, your breaths deepening in the shared stillness as the evening unfolds around you with gradual ease.
For the first time in years, you permit your thoughts to explore what might unfold if you ceased pretending that the umbrella from your childhood had ever been solely about shelter from the rain, your mind lingering on the possibility as your fingers trace the edge of the blanket absentmindedly.

Rio had been tracking her mark for two nights now. Being a private eye in her time was easy, given that no one ever suspected a woman of anything.
She had been paid by Ralph Harkness to see if his wife had another man on the side. It was a pretty routine case for her to get. She would either get proof of her in bed with someone or of her going to a book club. She hoped for the book club, if just to avoid having some blubbering man who never treated his wife right in the first place breaking down in her office.
She had blended well into the background of Agatha’s life, situating herself as another face in the crowd. When she shopped, she was a few aisles over. When she drove, she tailed her two cars back. Now, she was parked around the corner, hidden on a fire escape in a shady neighborhood, watching Agatha through her binoculars.
While Agatha normally wore elegant dresses, she was wearing something closer to a feminine suit with suspenders and the blouse beneath it having the top few buttons undone. Her makeup and hair were flawless, her red lip drawing attention. She adjusted her suit jacket before walking down the street in wing-tipped shoes. It reminded Rio of something that Katherine Hepburn would wear. She looked both beautiful and dashing all in one.
She completely that she was at work as she watched the woman slid past the person guarding the door into what looked like a private club.
“Shit…” she whispered to herself, not having gotten one photo of her.
She decided to go inside. After snapping a picture of the club entrance and Agatha’s convertible, she left her camera in her own car. She made her way to the door of the club, knocking when she realized it was locked.
The door opened, revealing who she thought was a man at first, but was a very masculine woman.
“Hello, Dolly,” she said with a smirk, “First time here?”
Rio smiled nervously, saying, “Yes.”
“Relax, you’re safe here. Have fun,” she said, stepping aside to let her in.
Rio walked inside, her dark green satin dress hugging her form, falling to her knee. Her black hair swept down in a perfect wave to kiss her bare shoulders. She looked around, seeing women everywhere. They were drinking at the bar, dancing on the dance floor, and wrapped up in each other in dark cozy corners. Rio had known of places like this for certain men who lived their lives in secret, but never women.
She walked up to the bar and ordered a martini. She drank it instantly before ordering another, needing a dose of courage. She had followed others into dangerous and sordid places where she felt unsafe, but this place made her uneasy in an entirely different way.
She nursed her second martini, perched on one of the stools as a dapper woman named Syd chatted her up. She caught sight of Agatha across the room. The other woman leaned against the wall, flirting with a young, blushing blonde. As if she felt Rio watching, her eyes flicked over and found hers. Rio’s heart stopped a moment as she looked away. After a few seconds passed, she chanced another glance, finding that Agatha’s eyes were still on her.
Rio looked back at Syd, who had caught on that her attention was somewhere else.
“Sorry, you were saying?” Rio said, sipping her martini.
“Agatha,” Syd said, catching her off guard.
“Syd,” said a familiar voice right behind her.
Rio just about jumped out of her skin. She was normally so calm when out on a job, but something about this woman knocked her off balance.
“Take a walk, Syd. Your girl’s looking for you,” Agatha said, nodding toward a very angry looking woman.
“Shit,” Syd muttered before running over to the other woman with profuse apologies.
“Such a dog,” Agatha said with an arched brow, “So, I haven’t seen you around here.”
Rio played with the toothpick in her drink.
“Yeah… it’s my first time at a place like this.”
“Oh! Well, welcome to the greener grass. No man in sight.”
Rio laughed and said, “Thank you. It is definitely better than any nightclub I’ve been to.”
“I’m Agatha, by the way,” she said, reaching her hand out.
“Vera,” she said, giving her an alias.
Agatha brought Rio’s hand up to her lips, kissing the knuckles, leaving red lipstick behind. Her cheeks burned as she blushed, her reaction betraying her professionalism. Agatha kept her hand in hers.
“Would you like to dance?” she asked as a slow song came on.
“Sure.”
Agatha led her to the dance floor. In one smooth motion, she spun Rio before pulling her in. Her hand rested on her hip and the other held Rio’s.
“So, Vera, are you married or single?” She asked.
“Single, of course,” she said.
“It’s not always the case here. A lot of women need to hide themselves behind a husband.”
“You?”
“Married. Unhappily. I hoped it would at least be peaceful, but that man is drunk most of the time.”
“Oh,” Rio said, “I’m sorry. That sounds terrible.”
“It is. I can’t leave, though.”
“Why not?”
“He would get everything.”
“You… don’t have anything on him?” Rio asked, unable to turn the investigator side of herself off.
“Like what?”
“Well, if he was cheating..”
“He would still get everything. No one would hire a divorcee either. No, I just need to outlive his liver and hope he never notices that his wife prefers the company of women,” she said.
Rio swallowed, realizing how privileged she had been to inherit the money she had to start her investigation business. Most women couldn’t earn the money she did. Now, she was about to completely ruin Agatha’s situation when she had nothing to fall back on.
“Well, I hope his liver fails,” she said.
“Thanks,” Agatha said with a smirk, swaying with her.
Rio pressed her cheek to hers as they danced. Her front was against Agatha’s as she was held by her. She breathed in the other woman’s expensive perfume, finding herself dizzied by it all. She had always told herself that romance was never something that mattered to her. She never felt that spark of attraction with any man. Now, she felt a rush of new emotions swirling around in her mind.
“So…” Agatha whispered, “Why have you been following me?”
Rio’s eyes went wide as she tried to step back. Agatha tightened her hold, clicking her tongue.
“I-I don’t know what you mean,” Rio replied.
Agatha turned her head, her face an inch from Rio’s.
“I suppose he hired you. For a PI, you don’t lie very well. Do I make you nervous?” she asked with a cocky smile.
“I.. n…” Rio stuttered before sighing, “Yes. He hired me. I’m sorry.”
A bit of worry and fear flashed in Agatha’s eyes at the confirmation. Defeat settled into her posture.
“Well, I guess I’m going to be out on the street. No way will my parents have a homosexual daughter in their home.”
“No,” Rio said, “As far as I’m concerned, I found you volunteering to help the homeless.”
“Really?” Agatha asked, stunned as a person who had never been given the benefit of the doubt.
“Really.”
“Thank you, Vera.”
“It’s Rio, actually,” she said.
“Rio, that’s beautiful. Well, thank you Rio,” Agatha said, leaning in and kissing her cheek.
Rio’s blush returned, making her cheeks glow scarlet at Agatha’s touch.
“I’m sure you want to be anywhere but here, now that you don’t need to follow me, but I would like to buy you another drink if you’d like,” Agatha said.
“Sure,” she said, “I actually like it here… I mean, because it’s nice to not have men pawing at me…”
“Of course, Sweetheart,” Agatha said with a smirk.
She ordered them both whiskeys and handed one to Rio.
“Cheers,” she said, sipping hers.
The two talked for another hour. Agatha had Rio laughing and Rio captivated Agatha with work stories. The other people around them seemed to fall away as they only focused on one another in the crowded club.
Agatha rested her hand on Rio’s thigh as she laughed at a joke, kicking up a burst of panic within her. The entire night had been so wonderful but also so confusing.
“I should go,” Rio blurted out.
“O-Oh, okay,” Agatha said, crestfallen and retracting her hand.
“I just need to make sure I get some sleep,” she lied.
“Well, can I walk you out to your car? I mean, I already know what it looks like since I’ve seen it behind me all week.”
“I really need to work on tailing people…” Rio said, “Sure. I would like that.”
She walked outside with Agatha on the empty street, a single light illuminating the sidewalk. Agatha rested her hand on her lower back, guiding her toward the car. Rio felt more from that touch than she had from any kiss she shared with a man.
Once they reached the car, Rio turned to face her.
“Thank you for the drink,” she said.
“Thank you for not ratting me out,” Agatha said, “I really did enjoy your company, though.”
“I did too,” Rio said.
Rio leaned in, hugging Agatha. They held each other for a while, Agatha’s hand rubbing her back. She pulled back slightly to look into Rio’s eyes. Their noses brushed against each other. Rio felt something surrender within her. She closed the distance between them with a kiss. Agatha sucked on her lip, the kiss intensifying immediately.
Agatha pulled back, smiling with smeared lipstick, the two of their shades mixed.
“We should go somewhere less out in the open if we are going to continue this,” Agatha said.
“My place,” Rio said, her usual boldness finally returning to her.
“I’ll follow you for once.”
The two drove their respective cars to the brownstone Rio had bought years ago after her parents passed. She led Agatha inside. The other woman pulled her in by the hand and kissed her slowly, pouring every bit of tenderness she had into it.
“Bedroom?” Agatha whispered.
“Huh? Oh…” Rio asked, every thought having vacated itself.
She took her hand as she brought her upstairs, opening the door to her room. She turned on a lamp, turning to see Agatha stripping her jacket off. Rio walked towards her, taking her suspenders and pulling them down. She unbuttoned the rest of Agatha’s shirt while kissing her again. She felt Agatha reach around her and tug on her zipper, pulling it down to release her from her dress.
Rio was left in her stockings, garters, and brassiere. Agatha pulled back, shamelessly admiring her.
“Wow…” Agatha said softly.
Rio tried to avoid slouching or nervously playing with her hands. She was not used to being regarded in this way. Agatha kept her eyes on her as she stripped herself. Rio was rendered speechless in the presence of a beautiful woman naked in her bedroom.
“Wow…” Rio echoed.
Agatha crossed the room, cupping Rio’s cheeks in her hands. She began to lean in. Rio gripped her wrist with her hand.
“Agatha-“
“Yeah?” Agatha said, her eyes still on her lips.
“I’ve never..”
“Been with a woman before, I figured,” she said.
“Been with anyone before…” Rio said with an air of embarrassment.
Agatha looked into her eyes, taking in the new information. She ran her thumb over her cheek.
“Do you want to stop?” she asked.
“No… I just… thought you should know.”
“I’m glad you told me,” Agatha said with a smile, “We’ll go as slow as you want to.”
She leaned in, locking lips with Rio. She sat at the edge of the bed, pulling Rio to straddle her. She smoothly unhooked her bra, tossing it aside. Her hands cupped her breasts, earning a gasp from Rio. Sitting up, Agatha pressed her lips to her chest. She sucked on the skin beneath it and sucked hard. Rio whimpered at the delicious pain as she was marked.
Her hips rolled over Agatha’s as the more experienced woman teased and toyed with her. Her lips and teeth seemed to be everywhere, leaving love-bites wherever she could. Rio was left breathless once Agatha had claimed every available inch of her.
Agatha pulled back and looked at the flushed woman on her lap. Her lips had faded, smudged lipstick, her hair was mussed, and her eyes dilated. She looked ruined for the first time in her life and the fact that she had caused that fueled Agatha. She moved them, laying Rio down. She wanted to keep Rio’s stockings and garters on, so she elected to grip her panties, tearing the fabric. She tossed the scrap aside and kissed along Rio’s inner thigh, making her squirm.
Agatha was driving her to the edge of her sanity. She looked down at her as the other woman settled between her thighs. Rio’s mouth fell open as Agatha’s lips melted into her.
“Fuck! Agatha… please don’t stop…” Rio breathed.
Agatha moaned against her. The sounds of Rio’s pleading made her hungry for her. She circled her arms around her thighs. Her tongue explored her, parting her and sliding inside. Rio let out a yelp when Agatha found a certain spot hidden inside of her. She ground her tongue against it before pulling out. She pressed her lips to her clit, licking and then sucking on it. She slid a finger into Rio, being gentle while opening her up.
Rio was already embarrassingly close to cumming once Agatha began to fuck her. She felt her heart pounding against her chest, resounding in her ears. She gripped her sheets in her fists and twisted as her body gave in. A moan tore itself from her throat as her pleasure spilled over the edge.
Her body shook as she came down from her high. Agatha kissed her way up her front to her lips. She cupped Rio’s jaw and leaned down, kissing her with her arousal on her lips.
Agatha smirked as her hand stayed between her thighs, drawing out the aftershocks while watching Rio closely. Whimpers left Rio’s lips between shaking breaths. She held the gaze from Agatha’s blue eyes as she tried and failed to regain her senses.
There was a glint of mischief in Agatha’s eye as she slid a second finger into her, moving it slowly to allow her to adjust. Rio let out a shocked moan while Agatha sped her thrusts, her thumb working over her clit. Her pleasure built on top of her previous climax, quickly rushing to a new one.
“You’re being so good for me,” Agatha purred.
The praise washed over her, making her cunt clench around her. She felt her walls flutter around her fingers. Her breath caught, her brows bunching together as she looked into Agatha’s eyes. Agatha was left speechless at the sight of Rio cumming. She stroked her through her aftershocks again before sliding out of her.
Rio ran her hand along the length of Agatha’s side, stopping at her hip. She bit her lip before moving Agatha onto her back.
“Hey, tonight’s about you. You don’t need-“
“I want to,” Rio said, “Just… tell me what to do.”
Rio moved down between Agatha’s thighs, looking at her sex with nothing short of fear. She leaned in and ran her tongue along her slid, earning a whine from Agatha. The feeling of drawing that little bit of pleasure from her had Rio hooked. She gave her clit and cunt kitten licks, testing what worked and what didn’t.
“Inside… slide it inside…” Agatha moaned.
Rio did as she was told, the taste of desire exploding on her tongue. She moved and flexed her tongue, looking for her most sensitive spots. She finally found one that made Agatha buck her hips. She gripped her hips and pinned them to keep her from moving out of reach. She felt a hand in her hair while she fucked her with her tongue. Agatha’s grip made her grind herself against the mattress. She was pulled closer, nearly being suffocated in the most delicious way. Agatha panted faster before her thighs shook and her walls collapsed around Rio’s tongue.
Once the hand in her hair loosened, Rio came up from between her legs, her lips and chin slick with arousal. Agatha cupped her face and pulled her down. She kissed and licked the remnants of her own desire from Rio’s face. Rio held her close, the two of them falling into the same breathing rhythm.
“That was… thank you,” Rio whispered.
“I hope your first time was worth the wait,” Agatha murmured before capturing her lips in another kiss.
“It definitely was. Can I… see you again?” Rio asked with an edge of nervousness.
“I would love that,” Agatha said, kissing her forehead, “I do need to go before Ralph wakes up.”
“Right. Him,” Rio muttered.
“Tomorrow?”
“Where?”
“If you’re any good at your job, you’ll be able to find me.”
————————————
6 months later…
Rio had spent every moment Agatha could get away from the house with her. She fell quickly and deeply in love with the other woman. She knew she would always need her in her life.
She waited in her car with a long ranged lens, her camera aimed at a motel. A man walked out with a half-tucked shirt and a woman half his age. She leaned up and kissed him, his hand gripping her ass.
A smile broke out over Rio’s lips at the sight as she snapped a number of pictures. She drove off and met Agatha at the club.
“So?” Agatha asked.
“You have enough to petition for divorce,” she said.
Agatha beamed at her, nearly tackling her with a hug. The two had agreed to have Agatha move in with Rio once the divorce was granted. The two would run the business and spend their lives together. Agatha pulled Rio into a deep kiss.
“I can’t believe how lucky I am,” she whispered against her lips.
“I’m the lucky one,” Rio said back.
She pulled Agatha out to the dance floor as one of their favorite love songs played. The two danced, holding one another until closing time.

Below, you'll find a teaser from my upcoming chapter of my xReader smutfic, The Future We Dream Of, which is set to be this weeks upload (Friday).
I really struggled finding "done" with this chapter, re-writing sections multiple times and coming close to a complete scrap. So, hopefully, it doesn't come off as overworked.
I hope you enjoy.

Percy woke slowly from a dream, but it was one of those instances where he promptly forgot what the dream was. It left him feeling warm and peaceful though, so he knew it wasn't a nightmare.
The light that filtered into the room told him it was still the middle of the night, but he couldn't place the time, and unlike some people, he did not have the ability to automatically know the time, and he couldn't really tell time by the moons even post-adventuring, especially since he couldn't see the moons as they were above the house, he had to check a clock. He went to roll over to grab his glasses and check the time, but he startled when he realized his arm was pinned to the bed by someone with long dark hair fanned out on the pillow.
Even after traveling with Vox Machina, sleeping next to his friends on their adventures, even after being married, sometimes he forgot someone would be next to him when he woke up. Even knowing that Vex slept best when she was touching him in some way, sometimes her being there still startled him.
Ever since they had started sharing a bed, Vex always had to be touching him. It started with her hand finding it's way to his wrist to feel his pulse or his chest to feel it rise and fall, so she knew he was alive. But it had progressed far beyond that, and Percy did not mind at all. She was the kind of person who curled up tight when she slept- a hold over from being a runway and having to keep warm and stay small, he'd guess. Her arms, if they weren't holding onto him in some way, were always tucked up to her chest or under her head and her legs were somehow twisted around each other. It was incredibly endearing.
He flexed his fingers just to make sure she hadn't been cutting off his circulation, but instead of turning to look at the time, he just admired her. She was more important anyway.
She looked so peaceful when she slept, so calm, like nothing bad had ever happened to her or near her. She looked so sweet and innocent and beautiful. But she was always beautiful.
The way the light from the window shined into the room made her almost appear to glow. It was ethereal. And he smiled.
He adored her. He absolutely adored her. And he still couldn't believe this was his life, that she was his and he was hers. He had done nothing to deserve this, absolutely nothing, but she was here and she loved him and all his flaws and weirdness and it was more than he could have ever hoped for- a happy life, good friends, a wife, and a child.
A child .
Every time he thought about it, his heart fluttered. A child.
Vex was expecting a baby. They were expecting a baby.

Skylines and Turnstiles: A Chase/Leo Playlist Fic:
December 13th, 2008:
Chase wobbled up the porch to Leo’s house, heart pounding in his chest as his face burned red. It had been six weeks since the teenage otter was grounded and he was finally allowed outside the house aside from school. This was the first time he was visiting his… boyfriend’s … house since the two started dating. They had seen each other at school, Leo making sure the whole school knew of HIS otter, much to Chase’s chagrin, but this was different. Leo had tried sneaking in a few times but Chase settled on the two just speaking through the window (which wasn’t STRICTLY against his grounding) … but meeting one of their parents after everyone knew? After he’s known them for so long? What would they think of him, that he ‘corrupted’ their son, that he was filthy queer… that he was their son's bitch? He squashed those speciest thought and summoned the willpower to knock on the door he had a thousand times before.
“Mijo, tu novio está aquí!” Chase almost made him pass out as heard a distinct feminine wolf that he knew to be Leo’s mom, call through the somewhat crowded house… the word ‘boyfriend’ being the key word he was able to understand…
“La nutria?” Ernesto’s booming and deep voice shouted back from somewhere in the house in response to his wife. Chase’s stomach dropped and the world began to spin. He was HOPING the older wolf would still be at the auto shop this early in the day; the otter afraid his boyfriend’s dad would have some less than kind words for the sissy seeing his son… Chase began to turn around, too embarrassed and ashamed to see any of Leo’s family … afraid they’d say all the cruel things he knew they were thinking of the lanky otter. All right as Leo opened the door for him; the wolf’s warm smile and rapidly swishing tail made Chase feel good inside, loved and confident again. The otter stopped his turn and hopped a step forward into the house, a grin plastered on his face at seeing his boyfriend again, he worries melting away at the sight. Chase even managed to ignore Leo’s mom watching TV in the living room… until Leo picked up his smaller boyfriend into a twirling hug, planting his lips onto Chase’s in the process.
“Happy to see you, Otter!” Leo beamed as he gently placed his boyfriend back on the floor. He felt his tail wagging faster and faster and was a bit concerned one of his siblings would make fun of his unwieldy appendage but the moment was too sweet to spoil. Chase on the other hand felt like throwing up, the quick spin not helping his nerves. He was hoping to keep everything on the downlow… not remind Leo’s parents what they were up to together or whatever other negative views they were probably thinking. Ernesto walking in just as Leo placed a kiss on Chase’s forehead and ruffled his newly frosted purple tips sent the Otter to a different dimension. His face grew pale and his throat swelled shut in fear, expecting to be met with a shotgun pointed at his fruity little face any second now…
The older wolf walks towards the couple, Leo turning and smiling at his father as Chase stays frozen in place, brain unable to process that Leo was very much not in fact freaking out just as much as he was. “Hola Mijo, good to see you. Thank you for coming over,” Ernesto holds out a paw, his voice calm and sincere like Chase always remembered it being… in a blur the otter couldn’t recall to save his life, he shook Ernesto’s paw and muttered a pathetic ‘thanks’ before following Leo back towards the wolf’s room. Leo’s mother offered a polite ‘hello’ that fell on embarrassment-deafened, round otter ears as the couple made their way through the house.
Chase’s tail absentmindedly closes the door to Leo’s room as the wolf collapses on his bed with a ‘pompf’, all the while dotting on his sullen boyfriend who barely manages to take a seat on Leo’s computer chair before collapsing into it. His breath deflates audibly as Leo finally realizes something isn’t right.
—
Anxiety and fear grip the otter’s throat, a shadowy claw squeezes and stops air from escaping or entering his burning lungs. It’s always like this… someone always knowing ‘what’ he is… they’ll see the things he does when no one’s watching and they’ll rightfully treat him like the freak and total piece of shit he knows he is deep down... Claws descend from every direction as his breathing ceases from pressure on his chest. It reaches in and tears his flesh apart, ice-cold paws ripping into his heart.
—
“You’re not in this alone!” Leo shakes his boyfriend a few times from his stupor, the telltale signs of one of Chase’s panic attacks spur the wolf to action. Tears stream down his boyfriend’s face and Leo can only hold them close. He didn’t mean to overload the poor otter, he figured Chase would be just as proud and happy as he was telling his parents. That Chase would know his parents didn’t care… but it was too much and too fast for him. So Leo did what he could… and held him close for as long as it would take. A few minutes of sniffling went by, Leo all the while reassuring and affirming that everything is fine, that his parents still love the otter who was so good to their son, that Chase was safe with him.
A few more minutes pass as Chase collects himself, finally able to process thoughts again. A few awkward gasps for breath and he’s able to return Leo’s hug, crying out one last sob, trying to eke out an apology into his boyfriend’s shoulder. Leo pulls away and covers Chase’s mouth with a claw, shaking his head in negative, “Let me break this awkward silence, let me go on record, be the first to say I'm sorry.”
“Bu… but why are YOU sorry Leo, I’m the one who was a freak out there.” Chase didn’t know how to respond. Yes, Leo would confront him during his episodes… but that was so long ago. And he’s the one who messed up. Why did HE care like this?
“Because Nutria, I’m your boyfriend now. I gotta think more about how you feel. I know you got scared when I kissed you at a school… that even though I’d take anyone out who bothered to give you shit for bein’ with me… it’s still scary.” Chase nods as Leo continues, “and I told you my parents were cool with it, they’re just happy I’m happy, y’know?” Chase giggles as Leo enunciates with his hands, the overblown gesture tugging at the Otter’s heart strings. “But I know we gotta go slow, gotta get you to be comfortable, okay?”
“Ya Leo… I would like that… a lot.”
“Good!”
“URK” Chase squeaks as Leo pulls him out the chair, lifting him like he weighed nothing and pulling the two onto his bed with ease. ‘All that working out sure is paying off…’ Chase scrambles while on top of the wolf, afraid his parents will burst in and catch the two in a risque position, but Leo pulls the otter’s face down and into his chest. Chase burrows his snout into Leo’s fur, the otter’s cuddling instinct being flipped on with an affectionate growl from Leo. The grassy and masculine scent of the football playing wolf makes him breathe in deeper and accept the pinning hug as the otter finally relaxes.
Leo ruffles his headfur again as he looks down and smiles towards his blushing boyfriend. “I… I like how we fit together, Otter.” Now it was the wolf’s turn to be embarrassed as Chase nuzzles back into his embrace. A white claw raises to rub a pair of adorable otter ears, causing Chase to squeak and rumble out high pitched ottery noises. The two stay cuddled together for some time, the pain and sadness from earlier leaving as they bond and enjoy the other’s company with some peace and quiet for the first time since being together after that long and turbulent night.
The tax on Chase’s mind and body from the panic attack weighing him down into this comfy pillow of a man. Leo pets and rubs the Otter on all the adorable otter spots he’s wanted to for what feels like an eternity now… and the two drift in and out of consciousness in the early afternoon haze.
—
Leo greets Chase’s cute snoring face with eyes wide and filled with hope. He finally feels good on the ~inside~ for once with another guy, he feels like he truly belongs, like he’s now a ‘real’ family instead of just a family-friend with the boy he loves. He lets HIs Otter sleep for awhile, more than happy to let him get some good rest for once
—
Time goes by and the high desert sun begins to fall, the room is painted deep shades of orange and red dusk as the Otter begins to stir from his cuddled position. Chase blinks the last of his grogginess out of his eyes and is met with the smile from the man he’s falling in love with, “Hello angel, tell me where are you?” Leo teases as he nibbles playfully on Chase’s ear, finally sending the Otter back down to earth from his restful sleep.
“Ugh, I don’t think ‘angel’ is a cute nickname Leoooo,” Chase whines in jest back at the ridiculous statement. Leo releases his boyfriend’s ear before sitting up in bed, Chase rolling over to sit up next to him as the two sit with Leo’s arm slung over the otter’s shoulder.
“I know Otter… I’m sure I’ll come up with something sooner or later that fits!” Chase nuzzles himself back into Leo’s neck, desire to smell like the wolf and have the wolf smell like him spinning in the back as the head. It makes him feel… special for once. Leo chuckles and ruffles Chase’s headfur with his free paw, eventually pulling his boyfriend back a bit so the two can look at each other. “Can we talk real quick?” Chase nods, knowing this was coming eventually. “How can I put this… give me a sec so I know I’m sayin’ what I mean, okay?”
“Of course Leo.” The two sit in silence as Leo double checks his words.
“Ok… What I want to say is… that ~I~ love you, MY parents love you, YOUR parents love you… and.. That it’s going to be okay Chase. It’s okay to be guys like us. I’m sorry I said it so… so mean back there. I was scared if it wasn’t true... that If I let you know, YOU’D hate me… and I would never want you to hate me Chase.”
“Leo… I”
“Let me finish, okay?” Leo cocks an eyebrow and Chase relents. “I know I was afraid of the same thing as you… but we know now okay? We don’t need anyone but each other. I can take care of you, keep you safe in this redneck shithole, okay?” Chase giggles as Leo raises his other eyebrow this time.
“Leo… your neck fur is…” Chase pats his neck a few times, giving Leo a wicked side-eye.
“Stupid Otter, you know what I mean!” Leo limps his wrist in exaggeration and the two stare at each other for a few seconds… before both share a laughing fit that causes them to fall back on the bed. Tears roll down eyes and breathes are caught in chests as they try to quiet down, let alone breath through the stupid-irony they find themselves both trapped in… The two calm down after sometime and get back into the serious mood after some paw clasping and back-pats neutralize the mood.
“Leo… I’m just scared people are going to think of me differently. It’s… it’s all so new. I … I never expected this to happen HERE really.”
“Well fuck ‘em! I told you we don’t need ‘em Chase.”
“I know Leo, and I believe you,” he really did, “But I’m also afraid… that maybe they’ll want to hurt me…”
“I’ll keep you safe Otter!” Leo pounds his fist into his chest in a show of machismo.
“Leo! You’re not listening!”, ‘mmhh’ A soft whine escapes the wolf’s lips but he lets his boyfriend finish. “It’s just… this place, here, Echo. It’s… it’s not right. And it scares me is all…
This broken city sky is like butane on my skin.” Chase crosses his arms and rubs his forearms, like he’s shivering. “Our memories blanket us, with friends we know like fallout vapors…”
“Chase! We don’t ta-”
“We don’t talk about it Leo! I know I know” Chase raises his face and rolls his eyes harder than he’s ever done before. “But sometimes… but sometimes I SEE steel corpses stretched out towards an ending sun, scorched and black…” The setting sun sinks below the horizon, the room growing colder as the last dregs of sunlight sink into the floor.
“Chase, those doctors are the crazy ones. Those pills… they made you worse okay?”
“And after seeing what we saw, can we still reclaim our innocence?” Leo’s eye twitches at ‘innocence, but he snarls now. He’s not mad AT Chase… but that he’s so caught up in that brain of his that he won't listen to him. Leo knew HE wasn’t innocent about what HE let happen though…
“Enough Otter!” Leo keeps his volume down as he snarls into Chase’s ear. “I’m here for you Chase. We can do this together! I love you, and I’ll keep anything bad from happening to okay! I promise Chase, I promise!” He’s crying now. “I won’t let anyone take away another otter from me, you’re My Otter now! Okay Chase?” Leo figured out why his boyfriend is hurting… why they’re both hurting… He just wished he didn’t have to talk about it to calm Chase down. “And if the world needs something better, let's give them one more reason now!” Leo holds his otter close as they both quietly cry together.
—
‘Maybe… maybe I can make it here. With him, with the boy I love’
—
They both hurt… but it was just another thing they needed to talk about. One of many… but together, they both knew they could make it work. They could be happy together, through all the bullshit, through all the sadness.. through all of Echo itself… and all it would take was for them to talk to and listen to each other.
