Me and my family are planning a trip to America and we are going to camp and go to national parks in the Midwest and I just found out today that you guys have lions there!? Is that real? Please tell me it’s not 😥
Yea we do. They’re called mountain lions, cougars or pumas. Depends by the state honestly. They are actually really aggressive and territorial. The scariest thing about them is the sound they make though. We also have bears. But by far we hear of mountain lion attacks more than any other animal. They will actively hunt you and stalk you for hours you typically don’t know they are following you until they are on your back. Where bears and wolves avoid humans unless provoked mountain lions consider us dinner. I mean they are not super common or anything I’ve never seen one irl. But it’s better to be safe than sorry. I would look up what to do if you encounter one just so your family knows given the slim chance you meet one.
If you’re going to go camping out in the wilderness please only go to areas designed for that. Dozens of people go mission in national parks every year.
I would suggest viewing national parks in the daylight and returning to a hotel at night or you could even rent an RV! Walmart will let you park in their parking lots for free. That’s a little america hack if you don’t want to pay the over night fees at camp sights!
