does anyone wanna hear a thought that my brother and I had? no? I’m gonna tell you anyway.
I’m quite annoyed by the weapons in the wild era. I think the weapons breaking is interesting and really cool, but it gets to a point where it’s just silly.
Sticks, old weapons/shields from 100 years ago that haven’t been tended to, gloom infested weapons? yeah, they should break. that makes sense.
Weapons that are freshly made? they shouldn’t break so easily. It seems unrealistic to me that Wild/Link wouldn’t learn ANY weapon upkeep. Sure there’s no hylians to teach him, but there’s every other race across hyrule.
so here’s a list of things that can/should break
-any monster weapons (this could disclude lynels, but I don’t think it would.)
-anything from 100 years ago
-the champions weapons (discluding if they are fixed after breaking them once) (though I headcanon he does not use any of their weapons and simply keeps them safe in his house)
(note, I’m far more familiar with botw than totk)
Weapons I believe shouldn’t break
-anything forged in the past 5 years that has had regular upkeep (again, I headcanon someone taught him how to take care of weapons)
-fierce deity sword. that belongs to a god.
-fi/master sword, I believe a damage system could work instead of breaking and needing to recharge. That is the Master Sword, people!
Botw- max damage when you pull it out of the pedestal, if the thought of fi always being at full strength seems too op then I suggest she does less damage the more she is used. Instead of ‘the master sword needs to recharge’ and disappearing to the slate it could just do lower damage and you can put it away whenever, even waiting til she does practically no damage. (please say that paragraph makes sense 🙏)
Totk- a sword that has been bathed in light for 10 000 years? yeah no. that is ridiculous that she breaks.
