Destiel Professors AU and it's a lunch break, they sit at the desk in Castiel's classroom, chatting and laughing. They obviously don't parade their personal lives to students much, moreover they teach in different departments so it's not like many people even have classes with the both of them anyway.
So, when they miss the bell signaling the break is over, and rushing in students find them still caught up in a dialogue—nothing incriminating, but with a clear old familiarity in words and glances—it's surprising for the kids. After all, judging by the way Cas is during his classes—Dean seems like the last person he would get along with. And yet it seems like he does.
Castiel's students are obviously curious and one brave enough soul decides tease him a bit about it.
"You seem pretty close with Mr. Winchester, huh?"
"It's only natural when you're married," Cas replies without missing a bit, and the thing is—they are married, but the answer is so much alike to his usual dry and sarcastic sense of humor that.... nobody believes him.
Not in a dramatic way or anything—just chuckle for a bit, and then turn their attention to the actual topic of the class.
This, until one student who does attend both of their classes, brings it up to Dean, you know, just to see his reaction and to get away from an actual work.
For a moment, Dean just stares at him, dumbfounded. "He said that? Huh. But yeah—we are. For 10 years."
And of course, to the students it sounds even more like a fucking lie.
So, now everybody thinks it's a running joke and, of course, tells about it others, while also trying to get out of Dean and Cas more crazy facts. And because not that many students are in both of theirs courses—the details begin to change like in a game of a broken phone, at some point reaching absolutely absurd degree.
And in the meantime, Dean and Cas clock what's actually going on and, being true to their chaotic selves, shamelessly play into it, enjoying the created havoc.
