Paint me a picture
Paint me a picture, sing me a lullaby, pick up the thorns on my fence,
My promises are like the morning dew, indistinguishable from the raindrops that fell,
Paint me a picture, call me your muse; enchant me with your stories,
Then tell me that I put you back together with fallen pieces of my own,
Paint me a picture, burn me with the flames within you, like a hill set on fire,
Tell me that my lies show you roads that make you feel like you’re heading home,
Paint me a picture, call me your angel; put a halo over my horns,
Colour my black ashes with white and put on your favourite Christmas song,
Paint me a picture, count your blessings when your only curse sleeps next to you,
I know that I’ve given you wounds, but all you see is the smile I’m faking,
Paint me a picture, call my scratches on your face love marks I’ve left behind,
Burn like Notre-Dame, leave me to mourn your history; your legend,
Paint me a picture, walk blindfolded with me; thinking I’m taking you to the sunset,
But all that I’ll do it push you over the cliff; only saying I warned you before,
Paint me a picture, lie down when you finally realise that red isn’t just the shade of my lipstick,
Call me yours, even when I’ve broken you down, burn down the house we called ours.
