Falk Maria Schlegel of powerwolf would be a Cinderace if he were a pokemon.
He loves fire, bounces around on stage, is an actual soccer bunny, and his zodiac is the year of the wooden rabbit. They burn him at the stake for his crimes and he loves it.
That is all. Had to share. Caught a scorbunny on pokemon go and was bitch slapped by this thought.
Theo didn’t get a Pokémon on his tenth birthday like the other kids of the Galar region. His parents never cared enough to take his dream of being a trainer seriously. Instead, Theo’s journey began the night he accidentally ran over a Teddiursa while skating. He rushed the injured Pokémon to the Pokémon center, where Nurse McCall took care of the rest. Theo and Teddy have been inseparable ever since. Most thought they were an odd pair and assumed Theo was desperate to evolve Teddy into an Ursaring, but that was never his goal.
He encountered Gastly on his first night in the wilderness and although the Pokémon’s mischievous nature caused him much frustration, Theo could never bring himself to stay angry with the misunderstood and trouble-making ghost. It evolved into Haunter in the midst of his first battle with Liam, and as Gengar it became the backbone of his team.
Continuing his nocturnal trend, Theo caught Mimikyu the night after he lost to Liam’s Pikachu. At first he thought Pikachu had run away from Liam and pursued it to catch and return the unruly Pokémon, already working on his excuse for why he went out of his way to help the annoying trainer. When he realized his mistake, Theo figured it was a fitting one. Just like himself, Mimikyu was a disguise, an imitation of the real thing. But when he ran into Liam again, the other trainer (and especially his Pikachu) were happy to befriend the ghost-Pokémon and Theo learned to appreciate Mimikyu (and himself) for its unique strengths and personality.
He began traveling with Liam and his friends that night, using the instant friendship between Pikachu and Mimikyu as an excuse to stick around. Eventually he became Liam’s battle partner and caught Sharpedo to complement Liam’s team. Together they went on to defeat all of the Galar region’s gym leaders and when Liam finally beat Scott McCall and became the new Champion, Theo was cheering the loudest. But their journey together didn’t end there.
It became common knowledge in Galar that wherever Theo was, Liam wasn’t far.
Okay, you know what this new Pokemon news brought to the forefront of my mind?
This Powerwolf Pokemon Trainer AU I had these little fleeting thoughts about a couple years ago when I was writing/struggling with Stossgebet. IDK if I'd make this a full thing (so many other things I keep meaning to write/think about), but yeah.
Didn't get that far into it yet, just some random-ass starter thoughts (some not even really Pokemon related) and a couple Mons each person would have.
Some of said thoughts/ideas:
It would start with Attila, who wants to travel and see the world. He would be a disillusioned/retired preacher, moonlighting as a singer (either opera or club/something he would wear his Red Aim suit for - you know the one)
He would be traveling and soon meet Falk, an organist in a church in a nearby town. Not sure how/why/rationale, but Falk would join up with him.
Matthew and Charles used to be gym leaders - not like Tate and Liza (Psychic Type Gym Leaders from Gen 3 who are twins), but like in towns close to each other. One of them would have a type specialty that has an advantage over the other because Brothers (leaning towards Charles over Matt). They would join up with Attila and Falk later. (Doing the Misty and Brock thing, I guess.)
They also used to be together or have some kind of attraction to each other, but soon realized they were better as friends, though those feelings still come up. Let's just say this is how Attila and Falk would find out they're not actually related.
True to canon, it would be a while before Roel would show up. Not an original part of the gang. He would just be Some Guy (maybe Stefan would introduce them? Not sure yet) who comes in eventually. I kinda picture him like the Grass Type gym leader from Sword/Shield (blanking on his name) - like an ordinary farmer/worker/outdoorsy type.
Falk would get into doing Contests. Matthew would consider doing so as well. (Picturing this like in the Gen 3 and 4 animes)
Wouldn't be an AU of mine without having Attila and Falk eventually get together.
Charles and Roel would, too, but it would take a while. Charles would be too shy/tsundere about it at first; Roel would be too much of a himbo about it at first. For some reason, I'm picturing the climax of this arc involving one of those Pokemon that invades dreams and it would lead to a plan to beat the Pokemon and a confession/dealing with feelings.
Pokemon they would have:
They would have type specialties, but I would let them catch whatever depending on what interests them/story reasons.
They would each have at least one dog/wolf Pokemon, with Attila probably having more than the others.
Attila: Fire and/or Dark. He would have the Growlithe and/or Houndour lines.
Falk: Water and/or Psychic. Maybe a Fairy type if it suits him/the situation. I would give Quagsire to either him or Attila (my favorite pokemon). I would also give him Mr. Mime (could translate to a running gag of him banging into barriers instead of doors).
Matthew: This I'm still figuring out. Possibly Psychic, maybe Fairy? Would have at least one cat Pokemon (Delcatty? Liepard?). Maybe also Lycanroc. May have a Normal Type specialty if so.
Charles: Might also have Lycanroc. Leaning towards Dark and/or Ghost. Maybe Fighting? Also still figuring this out.
Roel: Grass and/or Ground. Would have the Grookey line for sure. Maybe also Clodsire.
Would have/like to fit the former members and the touring members in there somehow.
Liam woke up late the day of his tenth birthday and arrived at the lab long after all the Pokémon were taken. All accept the angry and defiant Pikachu that Professor Deaton hesitated to give him. But Liam begged and Deaton relented. Liam didn’t regret his pleading until after the tenth time he’d been electrocuted while trying to get Pikachu to cooperate with him. But the pair bonded after Liam risked his life to save Pikachu from a pack of hungry Mightyena.
Mankey was Liam’s first catch after a long and grueling battle. Their belligerent personalities clashed at first (occasionally turning into a three-way brawl with Pikachu) but Liam and Mankey bonded over their mutual love for battle. When they finally defeated Brett after countless losses, Mankey evolved into Primeape and Liam became a serious threat on the trainer scene.
Liam’s easiest catch was Munchlax, but that was because the friendly and indolent Pokémon caught itself. It approached Liam while he was camping with his friends, wandering up at the scent of their food and knowing that it would get fed if it were a part of the team. Liam tried releasing Munchlax, but no matter how much he begged the Pokémon happily followed along and continued to eat most of their food. Eventually, he gave up and accepted that Munchlax was there to stay.
When Theo became Liam’s battle partner the pair were set back by neither having a fire or water-type. So they agreed to split up and when they joined together again Liam had Incineroar and Theo had Sharpedo.
Consistently underestimated and written off, it was a shock to the whole region when Liam and Pikachu managed to defeat Scott McCall and claim the title of Champion of the Galar region. Almost as great of a shock as when Theo approached him on the field and pulled him into a heated kiss as the crowd roared.
Scott started his journey to become Champion with nothing but his Chimchar, the support of Professor Deaton and his mom, and a dream. He achieved that dream in record time, becoming the youngest trainer to ever become the Champion of the Galar region. But Scott was never idle and spent his time as the reigning Champion rushing from one corner of Galar to the next, putting out problems and inspiring other trainers everywhere he went.
One of the most easily recognizable figures in the region (partly due to the motorcycle, partly due to his unusually friendly Pokémon), Scott never had a dull day. When he wasn’t signing autographs, tracking down lost children, or solving mysteries, he was being bombarded with a flurry of challenges from young trainers, impatient and eager to take his title. Scott accepted each and every challenge with a smile, even on days when all he wanted was to relax in the wilds and catch some rays with his Sunflora.
“oh, you're my best friend / in a world we must defend.”
Tracy Stewart, Corey Bryant, and Josh Diaz - Team Chimera
Tracy, Corey, and Josh were never going to be Pokémon masters, nor claim the rank of Champion, but what they could do was support their fellow delinquent, Theo Raeken. And do so through increasingly desperate and pathetic attempts at hindering the progress of his rivals, primarily Liam Dunbar.
If in the process they each happened to fall in love with one of Liam’s friends...well Theo didn’t need to know everything.
"come with me, the time is right / there's no better team.”

(not even putting this in the tags, because i need anyone reading this to understand how perfect these partner pokémon are for them. + jean jackets 😌)
Professor Deaton was often the first and last stop for young trainers setting out to challenge the gyms of the Galar region. He’d given every young trainer their first Pokémon, from stars like Allison Argent and Scott McCall to newcomers like Liam Dunbar and Mason Hewitt. Every successful trainer in the region had Deaton (and his passionate dedication towards the health and happiness of Pokémon) to thank.
Nurse McCall might have been the mother of Champion Scott McCall, but that title paled in comparison to her role as the region’s hardest-working Pokémon center nurse. Every trainer who ever lost a battle or needed emergency aid for their Pokémon was familiar with her and Chansey’s medical expertise.
Officer Clark didn’t have the hardest job in the Galar region, but keeping her younger sister, Hayden Romero, out of trouble and running off the ever-trespassing Team Chimera was more than enough to keep her busy.
“you teach me, and I'll teach you / po-ké-mon!”

Yes, Deaton is as beloved by Muk as Professor Oak is. Yes, Melissa is just as unethical a nurse in this au as in canon. And yes, Clark does drive her motorcycle right into the Pokemon center rather than using the driveway.
