there's quite a few people who claim that the polybros personality is interchangable, but there is a slight difference

the "duh" answer is that polyurethane is more violent, but after rewatching some scenes, i noticed polyester is slightly more polite and gives more compliments / motivation to polyurethane + is more positive in general, meanwhile urethane tends to put the anarchy and demon sisters down more often and is more prone to action against them

some examples

"that's like, so illegal" and "so, like, we're lowk going to report this to the higher ups"

"lowk feels like we're about to kick it into high gear" vs "well iykyk right? and i know salty losers when i see them"

"looks like we caught something important to the chopped huzz" and "but like, lowk it kind of looks like trash"

"sounds like someone's disrespecting his highness" and "hell no, we're not taking that shit without some serious clapback"

"wuhuh???" and "a human???"

kicking away garter's offerings + "permission to chase them" + his clear disgust at the demon sisters and famously: "my father? 🥺" vs "f- father, permission to annihilate?"

especially during the casino trip, we get to see polyester's softer side (bonding with brief, he fw the humans)

it's a nice touch cuz it distinguishes their vibes of older and younger brother

but also, he doesn't always agree, which indicates that polyurethane is more rebellious (ex. kneesocks always agrees with everything that scanty says, which is obviously making fun of western tropes like the rest of the series)

i don't think polyester cares as much about status as much as polyurethane does but this is definitely because of ramie's influence... i don't think they'd be like this otherwise. outside of being an angel (field trip) they're pretty chill. + ramie raised them as tools, not as sons. it'll take them a while to break out of the mentalities that ramie imposed on them

so my prediction for next season (whenever that is...) is that polyurethane will take more time to come around

also i noticed that polyurethane is driving instead in the credits scene (?) when every time before, polyester was driving. maybe that means something

My headcanon about the polybros while both of them would be kinda somewhat clueless on whether what they're feeling is a crush, they'd both would dealt with it differently:

Polyester: Not sure why but I feel like he'd be one who'd develop a slower type of crush, kinda like a snowball effect, at first it would just be a nagging feeling, someone who piqued his interest, but the moment he entertains the feeling/person it slides down and grows pretty hard and fast and next thing he knows is that he's having a hard time being around them because he will find himself being self-conscious and maybe even lowkey awkward or shy around them, and of course then there's the jealousy, he can't stand the idea of them being too close to someone else, but being jealous is lame, so he can't be THAT obvious about it right? (spoiler alert: no one is fooled), he probably has a realization pretty late too, I'm a little on the fence on whether he would act on it immediately or maybe mull over them for a while, overthinking about what to do 🤭

Polyurethane: I think not only he'd be the one who falls first, hard and fast, but because he's both in deep denial that what he feels is a crush, but also is unable to not act onto them, because he's overwhelmed by them... So he starts to bully them, because in his mind workings, what other reasoning can he have to want to spend so much time around them? Why would he find them so annoying? Why would he want to be noticed by them all the time? Obviously because they're an eyesore who needs to know their place and how dare they demand his attention so much? He loves getting reactions out of them, he loves how worked up they get because of him, and he loves to hog their attention and poor be the soul who dares to steal that attention from him, he'll immediately turn from mean, to downright cruel, both to his crush and the one who dares to intrude in, but, oops, this behaviour bites him in the ass because now his crush is really angry with him and won't talk to him, won't react or even acknowledge him, he gets the cold shoulder treatment and it kills him it makes him realize that maybe, just maybe he doesn't find them annoying, maybe he sort of likes them 😳
