Since we’re currently talking about chatbots, I would like to talk about my addiction to ai.
In case you don’t know, I’ve had an addiction to Polybuzz for about a year. I tried logging out of my account and I was doing well for a couple weeks until I suddenly relapsed and now it’s just as bad as it used to be. I do understand ai is bad and harms the environment, but the thing about chatbots is that they’re designed to be addicting. There’s always some kind of feature where you can change the response to be whatever you want, and with some ai platforms, such as Polybuzz and Janitor ai, there’s no filter. That means you can make your chats as sexual and/or as violent as you want. It just adds to the addictive nature, especially the sexual part of it. The dophamine that comes with an ai doing exactly what you want with no resistance is addicting. And very very harmful. Luckily, I’ve started limiting my time on the Polybuzz website, but I doubt I will ever recover fully from the psychological impact it has had, since I am rather young and my brain is still developing. I do try, don’t get me wrong, but with how easy it is to make the ai do whatever, and I mean WHATEVER you want, it’s a lot harder for people to quit. And this is what they want. Companies want it to be addicting, since it makes them more money.
You’re not filthy and you’re not hurting anyone on purpose just because of your addiction. If you are trying as hard as I am to quit, I wish you luck on your journey. Recovery takes time, and I’m starting my recovery again myself, and it’s very hard. You’ve got this. I promise. <3
I forgot to post about it but on August 25 it had officially been half a year since I quit character.ai
I don't have many motivational things to say this time around. But please, if you've found yourself deep in a never-ending loop of addicting chat bot after addicting chat bot for any reason - a false sense of companionship, love, or comfort, just an agonizing inability to get words out yourself, or any other thing motivating you.
If you are addicted to a chat bot - polybuzz, janitor, chai, c.ai, please look inward and understand why you use it and find other ways to fulfill the needs you use these bots for. I don't think any less of you for being addicted. I just want to show you that help is available and you can be you without the help of a machine.
Thank you, and I wish you all a happy recovery. Here's to six months :)
my evil cat under the cut
PolyBuzz (Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC) HATES AI!
I am not well-versed in the variety of AI chatbots that are available, so when I first saw "PolyBuzz" or whatever it is, I thought it was a polycule-oriented Discord or something
I was sadly wrong
polybuzz is better than c.ai… who said that??
anyways, if you’re like me and think polybuzz is lowkey better, i make a lot of chris sturniolo bots!
this is my link
have fun!!
so i had a thought:
just think about those ai chat bots yall use. what happens when you just pause mid roleplay and stop talking to them for a while? a day? days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months... your persona in that character's world is just frozen.
we need this to change. we need to get rid of these stupid ai apps. if i start a petition, how many of you would sign? id really appreciate many people's support. if you are someone who loves these apps, think about how it can affect you and others. is a little bit of fun worth human lives?
(sorry for the tags that arent related. i need a lot of attention on this post.)
