a thought that's been stuck to my for a long time:
with AI, polydactylism representation is probably impossible. I'm sorry for artists who are born with polydactylism, those who have a significant other with it and those who have OCs with it. many of you are probably sick of AI accusations and AI "art" in general.

Polydactyly
Downgrade because you can’t do the middle finger.
Upgrade because you can do two middle fingers.
Normally cats have 18 toes in total: 5 on each of the frontpaws and 4 on each of the hindpaws. The cat in the picture has extra toes on his paws, which makes him a polydactyle (or hyperdactyle) cat. The Maine coon and the Pixiebob are two breads in which polydactylism is often seen. Polydactylism is a congenital physical anomaly in humans and animals resulting in supernumerary fingers and/or toes. It is the opposite of oligodactyly(fewer fingers or toes).
So I finally caught the big tomcat who's been hanging around the house and holy moly are his feet huge! This is definitely where all the polydactyl kittens I've been trapping are coming from. We neutered and vaccinated the big fella so hopefully no more kittens! Just gotta trap momma cat now.

A family friend who lives on a farm donated a deceased rooster to me last spring for my sculpture projects, but I didn’t examine it until I thawed it out the other day. I just noticed its feet and thought they would make for an interesting post. No species of bird has more than four toes, except for chickens. Some bird species have only three toes, while the ostrich has two toes. Most types of chickens have four toes, but some breeds are known for being polydactyl (having extra digits). Among these breeds are the Dorking, Faverolle, Houden, Sultan, and non-bearded Silkie Bantams. These breeds all have an extra "thumb". (The feet pictured here are from a rooster so there is also a spur on each foot which gives the illusion of 6 toes) In addition to having extra toes, some of these breeds also have feathers that grow down the side of their leg and along the outside edge of their foot, as seen here.
