Is it a headmate? Is it a fragment? Is it a facet? Is it a persona? Am I subconsciously masking? Am I subconsciously/involuntarily otherlinking/copinglinking? Is it a kinshift? Is it a ’flicker? Is it age regression? Is it a mood? Is it impulsivity? Is it an intrusive thought that I’m reacting to? Is it genderfluidity? Is it pronoun/namefluidity?

Who knows! Who cares! I don’t need to stress about this, it doesn’t matter! It’s a mode that the “I” is in, the way I feel in that moment! And I will make a pluralkit/tupperbox/simplyplural for it so I can express myself and decide the rest later! Or never! These labels are a construct! Personhood itself is a construct! I don’t need to box myselves! I can just live!

Shoutout to the plurals with less distinct headmates!

Shoutout to the systems made up of fragments and the fragmentian systems!

Shoutout to the plurals whose headmates are fluid in elaboration!

Shoutout to the plurals who never fully switch!

Shoutout to the systems with only one or no elaborated headmates!

Shoutout to the collectives who “are functionally” or “can pass” as an inconsistent/fluid one!

Shoutout to the disordered systems who have neither amnesia nor elaborated/distinct headmates! 

Shoutout to the plurals who call themselves plural due to doing IFS therapy or using a parts model to describe themselves!

Shoutout to the those who feel they’re on the fence between plural and singlet!

Shoutout to the median systems!

Shoutout to the plurallets!

Shoutout to those who are perpetually questioning!

Shoutout to all those who are too plural to fit in with the singlets, but not enough to fit in with multiple systems!

You are all welcome in this community. You are not stealing from fully multiple systems and you are not imposters. I love you and you belong!

Let’s have some positivity for the systems who don’t fit the strict medical/nonmedical binary! Shoutout to the systems with complex origins and/or disordered status!

Shoutout to the endogenic or spiritual systems with CDDs and/or (C)PTSD!

Shoutout to the traumagenic-spec systems who split/formed to deal with the adversity they faced but never fufilled the disordered requirements for CDDs and/or (C)PTSD!

Shoutout to the systems of all origins in late stage CDD and/or (C)PTSD recovery, or those who are fully recovered!

Shoutout to the systems of all origins who “just” have DPDR!

Shoutout to the traumagenic systems that split/formed later in life!

Shoutout to the systems who voluntarily split/formed to deal with adversity!

Shoutout to the disordered median systems of all origins who aren’t multiple enough to fulfill the requirements for a CDD!

Shoutout to the systems who don’t know their origins, find their origins irrelevant, or reject origin labels altogether!

Shoutout to the semi-disordered systems!

Shoutout to ALL traumagenic-spec and endogenic, created, spiritual, and/or nontraumagenic-spec systems!

And shoutout to every other system that cannot fit neatly into the two boxes this community has created!

Yall are amazing and valid, and you don’t need to give up any aspect of your identity, regardless of what anyone else says. I wish there were more recognition and acceptance of you in this community…

Okay so we’ve established that the lines between singlet and plural are blurry, but let’s take that a step further. In my opinion, there is no line, because there is no such thing as a true One Singlet.

Multiplicity is a spectrum, and everyone falls on it somewhere in some way, by being multifaceted, having modes/states, parts of themselves, an inconsistent identity, ego states, conflicting wants and feelings, or experiencing dissociation. Almost nobody is in exactly the same mode of the same cohesive being 100% of the time.

Singlets don’t need to create headmates to be plural, they just have to look at themselves the right way and identify with that term! One-ness is a social construct and you can always opt out. You are not invading spaces by viewing yourself/selves through that lens and calling yourself/selves plural!!

Fakeclaiming (in the context of plurality) often stems from insecure systems projecting their internalised anti-weirdness and pluralmisia onto others in an effort to prove they’re “one of the good ones” to neurotypical society. 

“Weird” people making fun of the “weirder” to be more accepted by the “normals” is nothing new in marginalised communities, nor has it ever been productive. If you are someone who does this, do know that the bigoted neurotypicals won’t like you any more because you threw people who were slightly more different under the bus. You’re still a “weird multiple” who deviates from (and thus threatens) the status quo in their eyes, and the second you present even a bit outside the narrow standard of what they’ve deemed acceptable for those like you, or the second you stop trying to assimilate, they will start hating and invalidating you too. Fakeclaiming is unhelpful and accomplishes nothing, it only creates toxicity and works to marginalise us further.

I find systems realising their origins are different from what they originally believed them to be to be similar to someone under the trans umbrella —say, a nonbinary being— realising they’re actually different flavour of genderqueer — say, binary trans.

Them being mistaken and mislabelling their identity doesn’t mean all nonbinary beings are in denial of being binary trans. Similarly, there are plenty of binary trans beings who realise they’re actually nonbinary later!

Being mistaken about an aspect of your identity is inherently neutral and says nothing about any community as a whole and their “true” origins/gender!

Mixed origins but not just as in that guy was created for funsies and that one’s a typically structurally dissociated emotional part, but mixed origins/traumaendo as in. They were a copinglink that I intentionally yet subconsciously gave autonomy for our survival. He was a trauma fragment but we used a BAH pack to elaborate him. She’s stressgenic. They’re a psychological/traumagenic kintype turned headmate. Those are the willogenic sillies we’re making to help us get through life. That one’s just a grey dissociative area between everyone else. I don’t even know why it’s here...
